How are the curves for the Pass LUs after 5V, do they have the same strange bends as the Ebay LUs ?

This is a device from the Pass stash. I would call this region "runaway". It will interesting to look at this region when we have some devices on the TO247 adapter board and mounted to a substantial heatsink.

Here is a device from the eBay stash. It has the same flavor of runaway. I think that the bend back was either the instrument or the test configuration. Recently I have changed to 4-wire Kelvin on the D-S connections to eliminate the voltage drops in the D-S wiring. The instrument used is brand new to me. It is the latest production model.

If they are not genuine, they are the only fake semiconductor with triode curves that I know of. If they are fake, the are the best fake ever and worth every penny I paid for them. The price is around USD $1 /each. In that range.

Nice looking boards XRK! What finish did you select if that's not ENIG? It looks gold coloured in your pictures and definitely doesn't look like HASL. Is it plain copper?

These are HASL but since applied on insulated aluminum substrate, they have a mirror finish. It’s reflecting some ambient light that gives it a pale champagne glow. It really is just mirror polished Pb. 😛

We have a lot of interest so there might be room to make these ENIG, although really no benefit as there are not a lot of small SMT parts that require a smooth surface afforded by ENIG.

The Samtec 0.200in pitch SMT header pins arrived. They are beefy - I have never seen such thick surface mount pins. Thicker than typical legs on a TO-3P MOSFET that’s for sure. There is some weight to them! Looking forward to assembling a few of these with hot plate/hot air combo.

Is HASL then not preferred ?
Because ENIG has that magnetic nickel barrier added for the gold plating,
but it looks shiny though 🙂

I also have some LD1014D, it's the same as LU1014D but in a DPAK package.
Here is a trace of a LD10114D with Vgate -0.8 to -1.8,
it has also those nice curves 🙂

On the picture you see also two LU1014D with new legs attached,
it seems that the surface has been sanded and reprinted.
In the circle that is a little deeper you can still see the original number 3, and that font type corresponds to the original font of the DPAK.

Now the speculation part:
I think those are refurbished, sometimes when components are installed the lettering is removed to protect against copycats.
Later they were recovered and new legs attached + new printing.
