Lovoltech LU1014 Power Jfet Group Buy

The PCB substrate is made of aluminum. IMS PCB stands for insulated metal substrate. You may have seen these on LED lamps - they mount the SMT LEDs to an aluminum substrate which is then mounted to a heatsink.

These are the 2.0W/(m K) variety thermal conductivity boards. By comparison, FR4 substrates are 0.3W/(m K).

Nice, thanks for the link. This would be useful in a number of cases.

I have plowed through a couple dozen devices from the Pass stash. No surprises so far. Repeatability is very good.

I have ordered a thermal receipt printer to try to automate the printing of device parameters. This will eliminate human error copying parameters on to pieces of paper when I bag up the individual devices.

Matched pairs from my stash are on the way to XRK for him to mount on to the aluminum PCBs and test the entire assembly. He has to acquire the header pins and resistors first. The worldwide semiconductor shortage may put a crimp in the timeline to get this stage completed.

Hi woofertester,
Do they measure the same as the Ebay/Aliexpress LU1014D ?

I have no Ali Express parts.

Of the eBay parts I have purchased and evaluated (almost 200 pcs), ~10% are shorted dead parts. The remaining 90% are good triode curve parts.

One thing I have experienced is that these parts appear to latch up often enough (5% of tests) to make me pause when I have a problem with a test. What I do now is to take the problematic part and touch all three legs to the leg of a TO247 device and rub the legs back and forth a few times. This removes the charge that has latched up the part. These parts have nF of input capacitance. Once that junction is latched, it is staying latched until you remove the charge. I have experienced it many times. I have had the same latchup experience with the IXYS hockey puck FETs. They also have nF of input capacitance and will stay latched up for a surprisingly long time until you remove the charge.

Hi woofertester,

Thanks,
good to know that the curves of the ebay LUS1014Ds match the curves of the Pass LUS1014Ds

"match" would not be a word I use. You need some dozen or more parts before you find two parts that "match".

I used the word "triode" The eBay parts that are good have triode curves and the Pass stash parts have triode curves.

After I test 100 or so of the Pass parts, I will make a comparison of the two populations for distribution of parameters.
