Thanks Tim, but original idea was not mine. It was dady in other thread.
On the other hand, I have measure all 2SJ28 I own (8 KF and 8 KE and a few of dady too). They are very similar. I can group them into two great groups (mixing KF and KE types). This is not possible with tokins. They are very different between them. I hope can do it same with 2sk82.

Yes, I know it, and they are attached to a generous heatsink and when test is finished (5 minutes more or less), parts and heatsink are a little hot. Tokins and heatsink were a lot more hot...
Sourcing 2SK180
Need some advice please on sourcing.
Through ebay saw an ad from a firm Utsource claiming to provide this at around $25 per piece for 6 pieces. I am interested in getting started and get a matched pair.
I also tried to source from Hong Kong and got a flurry of quotes with prices ranging from $10 to $55 per piece, with one asking for $75, but all from China. All claim brand name as Tokin and some even specify the TO-3 case.
Which one should I take a punt on?
Alternately, if any one has a pair to spare that has tested OK, it will be gratefully accepted for the price indicated via my private mail.
Keen to try these SIT out. I have an F6 functioning and am in the process of assembling a CSX1 with Sony VFET complimentary pair.

I tried to order some 2SK180 from Utsource a while ago, I placed the order for 4 pieces at around USD22 per piece, the next day Utsource emailed me and said stock has run out, but they could sourced from alternative supplier with price of USD45 per piece, I hesitated but accepted after some days, then after a week or so they emailed me again and say even the new supplier was out of stock, yet they have another supplier but price would be USD80 per piece ... I backed off.
After about a dozen chaser mails, I got my refund a few weeks after.
2SK180 is approaching unobtainium even in China, 2SK182ES is far easier to get, but only used ones.

Presume all the quotes that HK Inventory forwarded may also be a bit doubtful as most were from China.

Try Japan if you're really keen to get some, I have the impression that those really expensive quotes are actually imports from Japan.
Other option is thf51. There are a lot in China. There is a drawback: its 5000pF. But I have two mounts and for me sound wonderful. Its highs are perfect for me. It is true that I use pre with very low output impedance and very high sensibility speaker (AER MK1).

I had the exact reply from UTSource as well. That was sometime in March. I suspect something fishy about the deal and demand the return of what I've paid.
Thanks a lot for the information. If I cannot source, 2Sk180, then 2SK182ES and thf51 will be the next option. I will also have to make a buffer then- not an issue as I have a two boards of the DCB1
