I think so. It is certainly better than my Thorens td125. Much more relaxed and detailed. However the amp I use at the moment is having great difficulty with the ESL's and the phono pre isn't too great either so I am sure I haven't heard half of what this thing can do.sounds good
The unipivot principle seems to be working very well though. It runs very stable and quiet. Just that you have to water it every week or so 😀 😀

What is the black "stick" on top of the plinth? Looks like an on/off or arm lift or so....
Just paint it green, so you can water it while you are doing the plants 🙂

DIY TT update 
I have been listening to my prototype for some time now and I must say I am getting more impressed with it every time I use it.
Compared to my thorens (which used the same arm and cartridge) surface noise is way down and there is much more detail. It all sounds very easy and relaxed.
The principle of a potentially wobbly unipivot that is stabilized by a fluid works great. Only problem is the fluid (water) evaporates and therefore you must add some about once a week. But in practice this is not a problem. You can do it easily and mess free (I havent spilled a drop yet).
Perhaps I will try to float a film of oil on top of the water to reduce evaporation.
Of course there are things that can be improved upon. It was afterall just a prototype.
The first thing I will change is the bearing. Right now it consists of two pieces of POM, an 8mm steel ball out of a ball bearing and an allen bolt whose head rests on top of the ball. I intend to change this to two brass parts, a ruby ball and a POM thrustplate.
Next should be the platter. Maybe I will have the current one turned to more exact roundness or I will make a new one.
And after that who knows..
Anyway, as a result of not needing very close tolerances in the bearing this project lends itself very well to home cooking. If you have a router and a little ingenuity you can build something like this successfully for very little

My trouble is how to make the bearing. I was hoping to get a close up pic of the bearing.
I really don't know how does the plater vertical axis stays paralell with the bearing vertical axis. (is it the gyroscopic effect?)
Does the belt make a significant horizontal force that tilts the platter? If its aligned with the gravity center of the plater, then no tilting should appear.
What about the bearing body? did you have it machined?

The belt is placed in the plane of the bearing ball which is approximately in the center of gravity. In fact it is somewhat above COG. Yes, but it is nothing more than a POM rod with a hole on top and a threaded hole at the bottom. You could even make it with column drill. As long as it is solid and doesn't touch the platter it will be ok.

Hi all i have read most post with great intrest and got a great deal of inspration i had been toying with the idea of building a table for so time, after reading i decided to give it a go.
So the first thing i did was get a local engenier to make me a bearing i have ended up with a very close copy of the Teres Audio Bearing cost on this came in well under US$80 the outer portion made out of Bronze the inner out of Stainless
The platter and plinth are made out of layers of 4mm marine grade Aluminium and 19mm plastic chopping board all of these materials where scrap no cost
The spikes are maid out of modified brass plummig fittings cost less than US$12
The steel Ball Bearings dont do anything other than look cool
Any opinions good or bad are most wellcome.

congratulations indeed - looks good - I'm really pleased for this mega-thread that it sounds good too after some initial reports that the fluid damped platter idea looked pear shaped - can't wait for further reports after sorting your disk preamp and ESL drive troubles!
I may have missed it but did you post salient details/materials/critical bits etc in one place?

I am working on this. For now that means collecting materials to build a nice all valve Phono-Pre-Power amp chain. Will take a while though before that reaches thecan't wait for further reports after sorting your disk preamp and ESL drive troubles!
