I dont know if I am being particularly stupid, or maybe its just a bad day. But, I dont seem to be able to find 0.1uf metalized poly caps with a lead pitch of 7.5/8mm anywhere. 5 & 10mm ones are no problem.
Any clues appreciated, thanks.

Well I 've decided I'm in this WAY to deep to skimp on commitment..
I am going to do a full BOM with each component, it's values, a Mouser or Digi-key part #, and perform a 1:1 examination of fitment and correctionality on both Jan's and Al's boards.
I "think" the resistors I have will not be a problem, the transistors also look to be good (with exception of a couple on Jan's boards).
So the issue will be caps and diodes(zeners included). The caps I have are wrong, the diodes I have look awfully small compared to where they belong on the boards.
Everyone who ordered kits should have boards so they can be working on pwr supplies and chassis... Once they rx the kits it will be super easy for the PCB stuffing since there will be NO parts issues.

I use the epoxy encapsulated "orange drop" type and they fit fine.
As for the electros, 16v is fine, as I said, I just used what I had to hand.

Troy, the zener pads look big simply to allow for whatever the builder had to hand to be used, the ones you ordered will be fine.
Another Baby Krell Klone Born!
Mark and I both had the day off and he jury rigged Utah's third Krell Klone together this afternoon. We are awaiting more parts from Mouser and Percy Audio, but the trial run using the Variac sounds mighty, mighty fine!
Thanks to Al, and all the gang at DiyAudio! Here it is going to be Thanksgiving tomorrow...I thought I was going to have a turkey, but instead, I have a swan!
Ciao, for now

Hi Mark,
Lyndon's got plenty of nice looking gear. Seems like the mechanical and testing side is well supported.
Just remember to remind him that the common strap across the smoothing caps is NOT the location of his star ground.

Bryston Clone! Anyway, have you ever experienced an English summer? It's not much warmer than the winter. 🙂

uh?
Anyone here done a Bryston clone? A quick search of the forum suggests that folk prefer the Leach.

Seconded!

Exactly, it's been done well already. Might be nice to try something different.

My ceramic insulators arrived today 😉
Thanks for taking care of this during your busy schedule.

Ditto (i am actually Walter's evil dummy suckpuppet)
They look really great and are a tight fit under the height of the metal of my Sankens.
Now it's finding a way to shorten some of the ThermAlloys, i was thinking trying a glass cutter first.
Mark,
thank you very much for doing this, you're quite a cool guy.

More information than we need I think...😉
Andy, I'm still researching which one to clone, so I don't know yet.

I would reccomend a ceramic tile cutting machine, or grinding them down to size. I don't think a glass cutter will work... but keep us informed on the re-sizing operation there JAcco.....
