All-
Last yr Pavel posted his "audio refiner" sch before Christmas as a gift and I have had PC implosions since and lost my browser book marks.
Anyone have a link to that post?
News on the GB. I have sorted the components, bagged them and have them in addressed boxes.
The "Jan" boards have different semi's so I will be ordering the new one this week. Saturday inbetween rests on this project( http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=771444#post771444 )I looked up the parts on Mouser and they were discontinued. They didn't specify an alternate part.
The "Al" boards are getting a "test fit" with the components. So far so good. If I come to a component that doesn't fit I will post, request alternate, and order.
In reality the parts are ready (Al's brds) but I want (need, as I am anal) to ensure I send out correct, quality parts. Not like my living is derived from this, but as a person people put their trust into...
Just PLEASE remember the excessive delay was not me, rather Welborne Labs. I have only been "active" with the kits for 1.5 -2 weeks...
Trust me, my wife is pushing me as fast as I can go... She is tired of me being on edge form this project... I got more gray hair from this GB then watching my kids being born... EDIT: I hope that remains the case when they are teenagers... 🙂

I looked in the posts dated from October 1 to January 1 with no luck, but I remember it being a "Christmas gift" to us so no point looking after January right? Or is my mind playing tricks...
I don't have a bad conscious, I am scared to death on wasting them on a bad project.. I want to use them where they are not "covered up" by less adequate components. Hence the reason I keep asking you to let us build your amp too. I show them to every visitor saying they are "special" waiting for the right system...
I didn't want to use a pot as the voltage controller( you mentioned my 50K Noble was "too high") and I think Russ' Kookaburra minus the AD8260 would be a good volume control for your boards.
All- Sorry for our off topic public rant..

I seem to have missplaced the orderform we used a earlier but was the smaller transistors (non-output) included in the kit? I think no, but can't remember for sure.

I posted the exact order from Digi-Key (and Mouser but semi's were from Digi-Key) with the actual cost earlier.
I will look again at Al's BOM but I think I ordered everything EXCLUDING the output transistors.
I "THINK" I also ordered the driver board transistors... Will check and reply back.
Wife and kids just left for a day trip, and I worked till 10 PM last night (Califorina needs to bump up their clock. They're running 2 hours slow) so I will be taking the morning off to work on those loose ends.
I did order the driver board transistors for Al's boards... EVERYTHING for Al’s AND Jan’s boards will be in the kit EXCEPT the output transistors.
Al, stop what you’re doing and repeat after me...
I will hold off on all new projects until I clean up this Krell KAS-50 clone BOM.
I love you to death Al, but your BOM sucks.
Lets take for example that NONE of the part types are specified... Values yes, types no.
First line item on your BOM.....
KrellClone KSA50 BOM
Qty Value Part Number Pin Spacing Comments
4 100n C301, C302, C403, C404 8mm Optional
Now hold up your board and look at the caps C301, C302, C403, and C404.
They are not the same type cap nor the same form factor yet you BOM states the same pin spacing and value..
I need you to clean up your BOM ASAP so I can order the correct parts and sub out the incorrect ones. I need this done before Wednesday so I can order Wednesday and get early next week. These kits are taking WAY too long because of part issues... GB's are typically slow because of the handler not parts...
I'm not mad, just VERY under pressure to get these done and out. But your boards sure are pretty. 🙂

Has anyone completed Al's boards and have a completed amp (not prototype, test rig or open frame)?
What is the current USABLE part to replace Jan's 2SC2240, 2SA970 and 2SC3955?

Hi,
I am not at home so this is from memory.
Referring to the Pinkmouse PCBs, the bypass caps across the decoupling are 100nF and 0.3inch (7.6mm) pin pitch.
The earlier PCB may be laid out differently.

I am at home, and can confirm that Andrew is correct.
Troy, the Parts list was generated by an Eagle macro, not me!
What parts are you unsure of? Don't you have my boards to check?

I do have your boards and it was the test fitting of the parts that has me so fustrated.
Several of the caps on the BOM don't actually fit / work on the boards..
It was my fault for not inspecting and verifyingthe BOM before ordering the parts, but I "ASSUMED" the BOM was accurate.
And yes I do still love the mouse, just in shock I guess.. I was expecting the parts to just fit in and match up so I can send out all these kits I made.
I thought I would be better off making all the kits and then picking a couple in random to test fit... Bad idea... Nextime just pull one each of the rx'ed parts and test THEN make the kits.
I will be able to specify the issues tomorrow as I have to work late again tonight to clean up some issues in CA before the holiday freeze. But I will take off tomorrow and the rest of the T-day holidays to work on the issues (except Saturday, the last climbing trip of the year).

Troy, Don't fret, if a few pieces don't fit no worries, Klone guys can rig up stuff you wouldnt believe. You have been through enough, it's cool! And... we love you too. 😀
Sorry about this Troy, it's the last time I trust that macro!
Ok, here we go with a list of the caps, or at least the ones I used, spacing in tenths unless otherwise stated:
C101: 680p Polystyrene, pin spacing 4 or 6
C102/3: 1000uf 16v, Rubycon MBZ, 3
C104,304/4,403/4: 0.1uf, metalised poly film, 3
C105/6 47p Polystyrene, 4 or 6
C109 0.1uf, metalised poly film, 4
C110/1 35v 10uf Rubycon ZA, 1
C301/2 401/2 470uf 50v, Rubycon ZL, 2
The only strange thing I can see is that C109, a metal film poly, that should have been the same as the other 0.1 u caps, has a slightly larger pin spacing. Any other errors must have crept in whilst the GB list was being compiled.

Al,
Regarding C110/111. The original BOM stated 16v item, the revised BOM states 35v. Can you please cofirm which voltage value is required.

25v was chosen later on for guys that wanted to build the higher power version. You can use either if going with the 50wpc version. Both should work and are roughly the same pin spacing.
