Yes. on my pair with the LFAs, I left the crossover exactly the same. Just recapped it and added the inductor bypass jumper. Also added the ports and the egg crate to the interior.

I am going to add the woofer trim piece first to decrease the popping from the woofer before doing a a critical listening test.
I only listened to the one pair of 12LFA’s at low volumes but need to do some more critical listening.

Today I was going through some crossover parts and realized I had a pair of spare RP160m crossovers. I pulled the 1.4mh inductors off just to AB one with the 2.5mh inductor replaced with 1.4mh against the speaker that has the inductor bypassed.
- Speaker with bypassed inductor - HOT on the tweeter, and mid range felted a tad bit recessed
- Speaker with 1.4mh inductor - more balanced but at the loss of a little too much top end (maybe I was just too used to the brightness of bypassed inductor)
I ordered the 1.2mh inductor today but not sure if that would be a noticeable difference over the 1.4mh.

Wanted to provide an update on my Heresy's WITH the LFA woofers. The adapters came in yesterday but they were too wide and I did not want to trim them down. I instead remembered I had a roll of speaker gasket tape and decided to try that to see if that would work separating the woofer from the opening and it worked perfectly; no more popping of the woofer. I was finally able to turn the speakers up and listen to a few of my favorite tracks.
With the speakers on 24 inch stands (Crites risers should get here today) and them about 6 inches from the corners, I noticed the deeper bass, mid-range was more balanced with the tweeter, and the imaging was great. I think the Dayton caps are finally settling in as well. The 1.4mH inductor over the bypassed inductor helped bring the mid-range more forward. I still have the 1.2mH inductor coming later that probably has a better DCR and will be a better fit. Can I assume the lower value inductor will bring the mid-range forward a tad more?
The Smahls arrived yesteray as well but I am waiting to install them until I get more listening with the 12LFA's and the crossover settings.
All this listening was done in a small 11x12 room, so I eventually want to move them into my larger listening space to see how they sound in a larger space.
After I get these sounding how I like, I will build my second pair with the correct Eminence woofers and crossover changes.

Just spent time with new to me Denon x7200 (running RC-7 and “stock”’ Heresy 1s as surrounds) onwards to Luxman R-117 (hot rod Super Heresy starting from Claude’s recipe, B&C 12CL76 woofer, Dave A’s SMAHL, B&C DE120 and ALK reworked Universal). Have never been able to get things quite right. Ran Audessy several times, changed cables, connections etc and then… OH MY. Finally, I got everything right. There was so much amazing bass I thought it was my Velodyne subs, but they were turned off! Setup the Velodyne subs (one via Denon sub out, one via Luxman preout), and yes, yes, yes. What I’ve been after for a long time. I’ll do more work on the subs with their calibration tools but for now, this is very good. The biggest trick seemed to be to use eg the CD input on the Luxman thus enabling all its tone controls, rather than the normal main in. But Audessy said the speakers were out of phase, I swapped polarity, set the Denon up for 2 channel, adjusted crossover settings and Luxman tone controls. Ran Audessy again. Test track… Eagles Hell Freezes Over - Hotel California. Wonderful!
Thanks to Claude, Dave A and ALK… the combination is just terrific.

Well didn’t quite get the story right but 50% (50 cent?) is close enough, right?Horn design is one thing, loudspeaker integration into a hi-fi source is another.
By way of example: an inventor of a large format horn recently claimed to have iteratively built and tested (using an anechoic chamber for the measurements) 70 different horn configurations before arriving at the final horn profile. Same deal for the very recent 2" diameter throat horn lens to spread out the polars above 6.8 kHz (a half wavelength of sound is 2" at room temperature) where an undisclosed number of throat lenses were iteratively designed, fabricated, and tested in an anechoic chamber before arriving at the final design.
I’m still learning. But had an awesome mentor…..Now the person who did the horn and lens designs is apparently quite good at horns and phase plug designs (perhaps the best).
Been doing this for 37 years. Maybe the next 8 years will be magical for me. But for now I still suck…However, when talking about other facets of hi-fi loudspeaker integration that can be effectively driven by real amplifiers that may that may or may not be current source amplifiers, that is expertise that is apparently in another technical bucket.
That is....expertise in the first area does not mean that there is the same level of expertise in the second or third area--in the same person.
As a practicing engineer over 45 years (35 years of which was as a chief or systems engineer).
Welcome Roy @Chief bonehead. Please take this as a serious question with no intended malice or insult: Are you here as "friend" or "foe"?
I just hope he did not bring Randy and Travis with him. I remember getting royally chewed out for posting information that was accurate on the Klipsch forum of the past. In the mean time there was Randy and he had bad info all the time and was sheltered. I got an email one day from Roy and he said basically Randy was not the only one with bad info and to criticize Randy at my own peril. That one got me a month bad boy award. Roy is a great inventive innovator who has thrown the legacy of old tech from PWK out the window and has advanced Klipsch by decades. That side I like but it is like dealing with a split personality and I chose not to post ever again on the Klipsch forum on 11-23-22. I have to wonder if this is really even Roy as why would he come here where people who used to admire him and the Klipsch forum now gather as Klipsch refugees?
Roy, if this really is you, and you are here as a DIY contributor as you used to be on the Klipsch forum, welcome aboard.
I just about fell out of my chair when I got the post notice and wait to see how this progresses.

What is 001's deal with posting 20 million videos every second?
Absolutely ruins the all activity/new posts page. 👎

The answer is still the same. There were ALOT of people that spread misinformation. And when randy does it, he hears from me. What most people didn’t like was that most of his information was correct. THAT is what it is really about.I just hope he did not bring Randy and Travis with him. And by the way….I did NOT throw Mr K’s “legacy of old of tech” away. Everything that I’ve done was at Mr K’s guidance and countless talks we had over experiments that both he and I talked about.
I guess we will see….Roy, if this really is you, and you are here as a DIY contributor as you used to be on the Klipsch forum, welcome aboard.

You mean you still go there and abuse yourself with that junk? Why? As to why it is because he has been given carte blanche to indulge himself there and so he does. No one knows exactly why he has been granted this onerous privilege and protection and encouragement from the very top. Darndest thing I have ever seen. What is 001's deal with posting 20 million videos every second?

Hi Mr. Delgado. Your style for overactive brevity still reveals the man, I think ⚡ (in other words...yep, that's Roy--not quite saying enough to understand what he is really trying to say). Welcome to diyAudio.Well didn’t quite get the story right but 50% (50 cent?) is close enough, right?
Perhaps it would be courteous on your part to reveal which part of the "50-50" you identified in my post is incorrect--that can correct the record for the many thousands of others across the globe that read these forum threads. I try to stay honest and open in all my posts. If I misquote, it isn't because I'm trying to do so, but rather getting the fuller story is sometimes quite difficult (like pulling teeth).
Since the second item you quoted in my post, the plug, is now under patent protection (pending), it would be nice to counter some of the "experts" on this forum who said "it can't work", or that the 402 horn throat itself is not well designed to begin with. I, of course, do not agree with those that have never heard the horn or measured its output via a multitude of test types with several different drivers, etc. (or listened to it daily for over 15 years). As an engineer, I can say "it works just fine, a lot better than 'good enough' and better than anything else I've heard or seen real test data on its performance--not simulations".
And yes, I'm doing alright. Hope you and yours are, too.

I remember a forum I used to go to that had mysterious thread purges and comments would magically disappear. Fortunately the main architect of that can't do it here.
"Fact checker" is fine.It depends…..what do you think? Maybe a fact checker?
You have to admit; you took the extreme hard line on modifications and non-Klipsch content on that other forum. If you continue in that role here, then I suspect that you will be perceived as "foe". On the other hand, if you share your expertise (including fact checking), as @Dave Tennesseee said most eloquently, "as a DIY contributor as you used to be on the (other) forum", then I would certainly call that a "friend".
Respectfully,
(you know me as Edgar)

No, but you have an entire team of Mods that can. Please be mindful of the rules. In fact, it wouldn't hurt any of you to do a refresher course before continuing.would magically disappear. Fortunately the main architect of that can't do it here.

Very uncharacteristically, I think I need to comment here, since my posts were inducted into the "disagreeable interchange"...
Cal, over the years, you seem to be a voice of reason, and I don't expect any less of you in this case--in other words, I trust your decisions here.
To the other guys that seem to harbor strong feelings here (and are refugees from another forum): there has been a lot of water under the bridge, and I've seen very few unqualified apologies go back and forth. There's been more than a fair amount of not-friendly behavior expressed. The time to release those hard feelings has actually passed. Be happy in your hobbies and treat everyone with respect. Life is short, and this is only a hobby, so it's probably best to be gentlemen (there are only guys in this conversation, right?) and let the past go. You'll start to feel better immediately. If someone writes something that bothers you, just try to ignore it. Stay on track and remove the ego from conversation.
