yeah, it's a livelier place and seems easier to navigate. at the same time, I feel like there is potentially more knowledge depth over here, just not necessarily Klipsch related.I'm frequenting those same sites as I seek out less restrictive on-line forums for Klipsch.
I've noticed that there is more activity in the Klipsch Korner on Audiokarma than here.

Has anyone ever tried building the quarter pie with a hinged mouth?
I’ve thought of using it standing as in the picture and wondered if I was using it that way if there was any benefit to being able to open the mouth up?

Maybe it's time for me to add that to my list of places to go!I'm frequenting those same sites as I seek out less restrictive on-line forums for Klipsch.

but if you modify the drivers you can squeeze out performance you would not know was there
That is much the case for ANY commercial loudspeaker you can buy for reasonable money. It is not limited to Klipsch.

Please do!Maybe it's time for me to add that to my list of places to go!
I've been investigating the Super Heresy you developed and it would be helpful if there was a convenient place where you could provide insight and advice. Such topics are now forbidden on the Klipsch forum.
Morey, I've followed many of your Klipsch posts, and will probably do some mods to my Chorus ll speakers, once I get the Vortex coax pair finished. I have them in my master bedroom and love them, but have always wondered how much improvement that some of your mods would give them. They're my favorite low volume speakers for late night listening and they easily can make the windows rattle! Glenn.I visit DIY Audio on a regular basis I am also am on the Klipsch forum and visit Audio karma as well. Traditionally there has not been much action here with respect to Klipsch it does not get a lot of love here. Klipsch has its issues but if you modify the drivers you can squeeze out performance you would not know was there and the horns are good. You can move them along up the food chain quite a way. In the end if you really want more there is always James Bulock Lansing at Altec and JBL where driver design and build quality is superb.
I see no point in doing that? Just curious as to why? The mouth is pretty big now. I have designed a Super Quarter Pie that goes lower and has larger mouth with the same basic Easy built with more lumber.@claude

That is what I was thinking too since so many products are constrained by accountants. That is much the case for ANY commercial loudspeaker you can buy for reasonable money. It is not limited to Klipsch.

Moray, good to see you pop up. How is your recovery going?
Have a bit of your FF85wKeN done. Last pair.

Pretty much the case until you get into the nose-bleed prices.

My first thought was that placing any Mid/HF horn on top of a 4 foot standing quarter pie was a bit high for my room and seating.Just curious as to why?
I was looking for a way to possibly mount a horn a bit lower and partially in the mouth of the quarter pie.
I didn’t know what effect opening the mouth might have on its performance.
Lots of effect from opening the mouth. But not so much near the woofer door. There you could mount a small horn in that part of the mouth, with the current design, when it's standing up with very little effect on the response. Even if the horn blocked the last 12-15" or so, it would have little effect, so you have the right idea with little compromise.I didn’t know what effect opening the mouth might have on its performance.
SERIOUSLY FOLKS DON'T POST ON THAT THREAD, just read. If it comes up to many times with fresh comments it will go away too. Klipsch is killing mod threads and as long as they are not active with current posts I think Roy is letting them slide.

having your mid horn centred on your seated ear level would be a good thing as your horn will be most accurate on axis.My first thought was that placing any Mid/HF horn on top of a 4 foot standing quarter pie was a bit high for my room and seating.

you should place the pie horn up against the wall and your tower where the pie is now that will give you all the reinforcement that you will need and you will have fewer side wall reflections to listen to that will be a win win situation.@claude

sorry Dave I did not respond to your health question. two years out now after a stroke and still finding a new normal though most things are good. I have slowed down but not too much more. Right now I am in Nova Scotia visiting my two grand children the newest born July 16, I arrived on the 18th of July. It's great to see the little ones, the first was born the day before my stroke so I am very grateful to be able to be here with them. I hope you and Ruth and your cats are all doing well Dave. I hope I can visit you in a few years time.Moray, good to see you pop up. How is your recovery going?

Find me on the AudioKaram forum, it's too crazy to keep up all the places where the same information would be posted. I've already done an UnPorrted Heresy mod that a few guys have invested in, on demand, actually, by someone who didn't want to cut a hole and buy a $2 flared port! I'm working on a Super Heresy 4.0, which will have even lower bass output in that little box, down to 40, I hope. Please do!
