Many discussions in the fullrange forum on backloaded horns (since that is the application they ar emost often seen in), horn tweeters reside in teh multiway forum

Since it started 8 years ago, and I've forgotten so many. Are you one of the guys who did my Super Heresy Mod?MC39693. Perhaps others will arrive here. I’ll keep an eye out there but, enjoy the technical modifications as they used to be, hence checking in here. Super Heresy, ALK modified universals, DAVEA SMAHL with DE120, B&C 12CL76... all working well. Built my own Heresy crossovers but not using authorized parts..l long ago using Crites and Parts Express. Etc etc... oh well, onwards and upwards.
I agree with this notion, Chris. Since we horn guys know that Horns must be Multi Way (2-4), they should probably be a subforum in the Multi Way area for a broader application that Klipsch stuff. I now only use Klipsch Super Heresy's as surrounds for my 3 channel front end of SH-50's in corners on top of TH-50R and OtHornL (soon to be replaced by another TH-50). I set them up exactly as Tom Danley told me to. In the basement I'm really enjoying my EdgarHorn Titans with Seismic sub, basically completed by me because all I got were the Salad Bowls with non-matching diaphragms in the JBL 2441's. If the direct radiator guys could hear horns designed in the new millenium and leave behind all the bad horns of the last century, they might want to up their speaker budget. Only the very tolerant women would allow that of course. To the moderators/forum admin:
A few times over the past few years, there has been a call for a high efficiency or horn-loaded subforum here, and some of you resisted the idea for various reasons (mostly fear of something new, I think).
Now you have the opportunity to capture a fairly significant group of horn enthusiasts that are now looking for a new home. Simply creating a forum that would allow them to feel "more at home" here I personally think is a really good idea. You may still fear that the Multiway forum would suffer. In fact, I think that it would increase interest in both forums and give the direct radiator crowd more freedom to post without the high efficiency crowd making snide remarks about their direct radiator loudspeaker choices. 😉
YMMV, and this is only a request for reconsideration of the subject. Respectfully...
Chris
Yep, that was me. I'm working on a Super Quarter Pie that's even better than the 2.1 version that a handful of other "horn freaks" built around the world. All Rip Cuts and only 11 pieces of plywood. Best Bass EVER!I wonder if it’s Claude that was responsible for the Quarter Pie Horn I took such an interest in reading about?
Good choice, but the L version is better to get a higher crossover point to the mid horn. I have Hornresp models for both Super Quarter Pie and the Original, so it's easy to model different drivers for other folks.I was very interested in building one…even acquired the EVM15B drivers.
Hello Mr. Ireson! Nice to see you here. Short answer is Not yet on your Question. But I did attempt, in 2012, a passive radiator version for Panacea Engineering (Fisher) who was a Klipsch Pro dealer for a while. He paid me for a weekend of time helping him come up with the best passive 12" radiator for his version of the original Jubilee. Because the back chamber was too small, we could not improve on the original with the addition of a passive, so I have curves that show it was a waste of time. There's only 2 pairs of "Golden Jubilees" that Valerie Klipsch commissioned from the factory's best builder. One is in the Klipsch Museum, and the other pair, was given to Klementovich, who wrote PWK's biography, subsequently purchased by Mr. Fisher (RIP). So I was able to measure the Goldens against the passive pair we built. Both were in an auction about a week ago, so I don't know who owns them now. If you look at what Roy did in the new Jube, he basically has the equivalent of a big Cornwall's worth of air volume feeding the ports in the new "75" Jubilee with tons of PEQ.What happened at Klipsch ? might this be the rise of the horn forum at DIY ????
Did anyone work out the throat ported hornresp model for the flagship Klipsch? I know it uses EQ but would like to see what advantage and tradeoffs that approach has and whether can be extended to other designs.
Since I helped DaveInTn develop all of his CNC machined horn lenses and tested all of them (lots of protos no one ever saw) and selected the very best of over 10 different drivers, I think he makes some of the best horns Tweeters I've ever heard, after having measured the heck out of them. Highly Recommended. And no I don't get any $$ for saying this. I just like good audio and like to help others. As has been said, most “Horn Systems” as people define them are direct radiators with horn tweeters. So it would make more sense given that to have a horn tweeter forum. I’m more into back loaded horns (which tend to be direct radiators at higher frequencies so the opposite). A fora limited to true horn systems would have little traffic since VERY few have the room for a proper bass horn.
HEY Claude Dave is here now.Starting to come here more and more to expand my horizons further. Who else is here?
The Wayback machine had Claudes "Daves Fabulous V@ Tweeters in it. One of the first things Roy trashed as I guess he got tired of everyone saying they beat those tired old legacy Klipsch tweeters hands down. The Wayback has it all if you can remember the post title and even if you can't pull up a known good date and search from there.I'd resurrect what you can here (perhaps archive.org / Wayback Machine has something saved). It's a crime to do what they did on the other forum. Your work helps others also increase their enjoyment and listening pleasure.

After building several speakers for home and DJ use in my TEENS, no less, and finally affording Khorns at 23, I was happy with my Paul W. Klipsch 2PH3 system with a LaScala in the middle, running at about -5 db from the flanks via a bridged center resistor box, same as PWK. He invited me to hear his setup at home with his personal recordings. What a day that was to a "kid" like me at the time! He treated me (and my wife) like his long lost grand kids. I thought of him that way since he was born the same year as my paternal grandmother (She outlived him by 6 years at 104!).
A 2007 trip to Hope, spending 2 days in the Klipsch Lab with Roy Delgado, taught me one very important lesson: "The Bigger The Horn, the Better the Horn!"

Hi Everyone. After being away for a while, I have just discovered the whole shake-up over on the Klipsch forum. What a shame! I loved the Tech/Mod section there and learned a ton over the years (I am Tarheel TJ on that forum). I have lurked here over the years but never really posted. Like some of you, that will change now! I consider this my new audio forum home.
I am in the final stages of finishing up a very large synergy horn build, inspired by Chris' (Cask05) K402 MEH. Should have it finished and ready for measurement and crossover/EQ tuning in the next week or so. I'll be sure to post a build thread here at diyAudio, and not at the Klipsch forum, where such things are now verboten.
Looking forward to many great discussions here.

Great news, Lee. I've been a fan of Chris's MEH horn from many moons ago on the Klipsch Forum, so looking forward to your build post. I will post the photo of my v2.2 version of my Quarter Pie horn here. I will also add the "bigga mo betta" version I call the Super Quarter Pie Bass Horn. Both fit neatly into corners, but don't require them to work. Also both can be stood up vertically, as they are 4 ft. and 5 ft. tall, respectively, if done that way instead of laying down (the preferred way). The reason for the name is it looks just like a pumpkin pie cut in Quarters from above!!
Here's a photo with the top missing. All 15 3/4 inch RIP cuts from 4x8 Sheets of Plywood or MDF with 48x48" tops and bottoms (bottom shown). The horn is reasonably flat from 50-500 Hz. and a very easy build. I ran mine with a 6 watt chip amp until I moved to a bigger house! It's about 105 db/watt, so you will likely only need 1/4 watt at normal listening levels. I'll post a drawing of the Super version when it's done. Right now it's just a crude sketch.

Here are some installs from around the world from people who built them and like them very much.

@claudej12000 , have you ever considered orienting the QP such that the driver is near the ceiling, pointing down, the horn opening downward in the room corner, terminating in a mouth that fans-out horizontally at the floor? You could get nearly 8' horn length that way.I will post the photo of my v2.2 version of my Quarter Pie horn here.
Yep considered it, and sketched up a design. I rotated the core section about it's axis to fir in the corner without any dead air space there. The 90 degree reflector got a little tricky, but it would work for sure. I tried to keep things as simple as possible, construction wise, with the Q's.

I'm just starting to participate here after being a member for a few years. I am Delicious2 on the other forum. I have benefitted greatly following guys like Claude and ChrisA and hope that can continue in a new home.I just wanted to connect with people from the Klipsch Forum who have migrated here. Been a member for a while but totally inactive. That will change.
I visit DIY Audio on a regular basis I am also am on the Klipsch forum and visit Audio karma as well. Traditionally there has not been much action here with respect to Klipsch it does not get a lot of love here. Klipsch has its issues but if you modify the drivers you can squeeze out performance you would not know was there and the horns are good. You can move them along up the food chain quite a way. In the end if you really want more there is always James Bulock Lansing at Altec and JBL where driver design and build quality is superb.
I'm frequenting those same sites as I seek out less restrictive on-line forums for Klipsch.I visit DIY Audio on a regular basis I am also am on the Klipsch forum and visit Audio karma as well. I've noticed that there is more activity in the Klipsch Korner on Audiokarma than here.
