Choky, you're quite the fellow!😀 Someone I would gladly call a friend.

BTW, I had thought of susy, but also thought of the diy opamps tutorial and Aleph series, in my case the F4 could send feedback to jfet diff pair input (which ever one doesn't howl!😀 😉 😀 )
It's so much fun. I woke up dreaming the other morning, and in my waking up dream, I was calculating amperage on a source resistor.😀

well - there is another one for ya :

edit:
if you buy me a coffee on next BAF , ya can call me a friend.......... just because I drink coffee only with friends

Interesting! So, what was the purpose of the input Jfets?
When is the next BAF? and Where?! I'll buy you a java anytime, anywhere. You just may have to drink it alone if it's to far away...😀 😉 😀

now ya teasin' me ............. (anyway - like all the time 😉 )
what else than input buffering?

Hahaha....I've got a memory like a rock, and I don't mean rock-solid!😀 Anyway, seems to me that I heard, or read, that somewhere. Thanks for the refresher!😉
The next Burning Amp : see my sig line. 😎
Sounds like Choky(ZM) is planning an appearance!! Keep buying his board kits! 😉
As for you Carpenter, you live just up the road- If Choky can make it you certainly can!!

Shouldn't those be 1N4736 in YOUR schematic?

is that date cast in stone?

Yes, I will be there this year... barring some unforeseen event. 😀
Perhaps you can suggest a nice place to spend the night. I'm horrible in large cities--maybe I could talk my sweetie into joining me; she travels like crazy....🙂

Good boy 😀
Magura 🙂
Ellen says she'll come with me...😀 Oh boy, travelling is so much easier with her on board.
So let's stay in touch.

blahblah

date ......... are you going on wedding (again) ?

As far as I recall, you're the only one around here who's going to attend a wedding anytime soon......instead of a birthday party with the boys

Magura 😀

I'll try increasing C3's value; I might as well play with the current, too.
So you didn't like that extra little C4 filter? I changed the cap value on it to 0.001uF--it reminds me of the little fellow Nelson uses in his Aleph series.
I tried using the PS that feeds my F4, 23-0-23, CRC. It was very noisy. The pre is much happier with a regulated supply. I'll have to purchase me a higher voltage unit.
Thanks for taking the time to share.🙂
Marvelous thread!!The question arises as to the amount of reactance required here . Is that even a factor?? Or are we just interested in current carrying abilities.?? Are there any limits?? Any guidelines you may offer would be appreciated.
Who knows ,I may have missed something somewhere!!😕

Hot dam!!😀
Now there's a treasure.🙂
Now I see why I need more negative voltage; I had considered raising the zener voltage, but didn't see an obvious tutorial example to go beyond 9.1 volts. Wow, so cool.

sometimes you really not read careful enough :
ZM:
.........so - if you use greater neg voltage , you can also use zenner with greater voltage (say 27V , whatever) and calcualte adequate resistor .... (watch at dissipation of that resistor) ...... that way you increase dynamic resistance of sayed CCS
put 10k resistor between gate resistor and zenner ; put cap from gate resistor to gnd

I'm just an ol' county boy out playing with the wonderful toys that Nelson and the boys offer, so I can't relate to reactance. I just used a low resistance transformer with plenty of inductance. When I downsize that tranny, I'll be looking for up to 1H with as low a resistance as I can afford. I.e., bigger wire lowers resistance, but makes for a more expensive transformer.
I based my choke idea on the ZV7-T experiments/tutorial. It has been an amazing journey.
