Iron Pre Essentials Kits For The DIYA Store - Register Your Interest

Hi Everyone -

Things sometimes don't go perfectly... so, for those that clicked on the "notify me when available" button for any of the iron pre products, please be sure to check your inbox and (just in case) your spam folder for a notification from diyaudiostore.com within the next few hours. The e-mail will provide additional details re: when the product will go live in the store and be available for purchase. I'll also post here within a few hours of when the product goes live in the store.

If you happen to receive multiple notifications within a 48 hour period, please accept my apologies in advance.

Cheers,
Patrick

I think you can successfully build a balanced version with the SE guide. It's just double of almost everything. Read it twice, you'll be totally fine 🙂

Plus there's a bunch of people on this thread willing to answer questions you have when you're not sure about something.

I recommend grabbing one now and you'll be happily enjoying glorious tunes sooner than later.

@jminassi

Hi John -

I completely understand the reluctance. I've had a Wolverine on the bench for... well... a... loooooooong time. The Iron Pre (although I agree with ZM that it's a piece of cake) does have a lot of parts.

With that said... the SE and balanced are not very different at all. Setting up the SE inputs and the pot(s) is(are) probably the most tricky differences, and once you know how to do it... no problem.

I can't promise 6L6's time or dates, but until the guide is up, I know we have a TON of resources available. All the critical wiring diagrams (I think) are in post #1. If not, I can add some diagrams and/or send some to you via PM.

I just added a few files. 😉

Come on in; the water is warm. We're here to help.

Cheers!

I just grabbed a balanced set. Better head over to chassis store...modushop. Also scored a couple rolls of the solder. No more "Fire Metal" solder? Still have about half a roll

I kind of did the same thing. Cancelled the one order without the bundle though, because I want to just build one single ended kit with the bundle. The bundle is the way to go! Just got too damned excited. One at a time for me. Might even warm up to this SMD thing a little as well, but for now am ecstatic with my second build of this preamp. Um, well, actually this one will be my third. Someday I may spring for the balanced/dual mono version.
