yes!
I can get 400w lamp ,DC or AC, BUT have not ballast.
I have only one E-ballast in my 3m projector.

YHW,
I don't need the ballast, I would just like one 400w AC lamp to experiment with. Could I set something up with you or 18wheeler to purchase and have it sent to the US? Thanks.

Hi shlomid
We talk about the DC ballast is the first DC ballast,so I get a DC lamp at that time, and so I can take pic of DC lamp and I can show the pic in here.the first DC ballast is a DIYballast! rough!
life of the DC lamp = life of the AC lamp.
Hi sabrex
one 400w AC lamp+shipping=40$+5$.
set 40$+5$ up with 18wheeler.

Does anyone with YWH's ballast find that it squeels constantly! The high pitch sound is driving me nuts!
The colour temp. on the lamp though is fantastic. Now the colours look more realistic.

I requested a spec sheet directly from the lamp manufacuer. It turns out to be another company ( not the same manufaturer that ywh got his first ballast set from).
if you have access to the spec sheet of your ballast you can compare it again numbers listed here to have a rough idea if it will work with the lamp.

Yes, mine has a high pitch hum. So does my 150W eballast. My ballast is sitting on a shelf in the garage with wires going through the wall to my projector so I don't hear it. 🙂 . It's actually siting on top of my HTPC. Eventually I will build my projector onto the wall in the garage and cut a hole to project through.
I agree about the colour temp, it looks nice. I wonder what it will look like with a 250W ballast?
I got my 250W ballast today but it didn't agree with my lamp. The lamp turned a grey colour inside. It still works with the PMA161X but is not as bright as it was. 🙁

what is the column with the 160,000 numbers???

have no idea. in Chinese that column was labeled 'brightness' or something. might be candela?

Seems to go down with wattage so that doesn't make sense, OK I was just wondering if you knew.
Cant remember if it was YWH, or 18Wheeler, but someone mentioned that to increase the power of the eballast, you need to change a few resistors.
Can you please say which resistors, and what they must be changed to?
Is there any risk in damaging the eballast running at this higher power? Will it handle it? Im guessing it will turn off by itself, as it has happened to prime if it gets too hot, so obviously it would need some cooling running at the higher power output.
Its worth a shot, since we already have it...

That is not PMA161X ,that is this eballast.

The ballast overheated at the 150W power setting, it may or may not be able to take 200W or 250W. The overheating of the coil could case damage, and there may or may not be over current protection built in.
I'm not saying that this will not work but I would suggest incrementally increasing the wattage by small steps to see how the ballast reacts to the increased loadings maybe 10-20W increases upto the 250W target. The semiconductors probably have some hard limits that will ruin the devices as they are stressed too much. While not a power supply expert I've had to debug a few power supplies, so if someone could draw up a schematic from the board interconnects and part numbers we could look into what this ballast could be modified to handle without modification. By replacing the weak elements I'm sure we could modify these ballasts to handle 250W. The capacitors , resistors and semiconductors are easy to identify, transformers and coils are ussually semi or fully custom and very difficult to identify so that would be the hardest part in doing modificatons.
So there is no luck with the PMA161X?
I would really like to get the most brightness out of this lamp, and with another 100w, i think there will be a noticable difference..

crazy! stupid thing to try.
I just plugged in my 400W magnetic ballast with my greyed 250W lamp.
It lite up with no problems. I let it run for a few minutes. The light was quite yellow but very bright. The yellow may be from the previous damage by the 250W eb.
