Give pro lamps in NSW a call and see what they will ship one to Melbourne for mate.

I'll give that a shot after the holidays. Looking at your price, I suppose it'll be at least $200+, since I'm looking at 400W.

P.S That Avermedia digital card you were thinking of getting, I have that exact card. They are not great, but at least average. It can be had for $120 cash at one of those computer markets/swapmeets.

Good luck with the optics.

How are you cutting the aluminium. Say the condenser holder you made? I was thinking of using all aluminum maybe even just use a atx case and mod it.

Also, did you cut your fresnels to be exactly the same size as your lilliput? I thought the back fresnel anyways needs to be a little larger to illuminate the entire lcd evenly?

dracul

I use either a hacksaw or a dremel to cut the aluminium i have used in my projector, the fresnel lenses I ordered from Trev (ace 3000) already cut, as I mentioned in an earlier post I recieved these today and looking at them they look like they were made that size, immaculately cut to say the least, bet hes done one or two before lol They are cut to the size of the Lilliput frame EXACTLY i might ad lol He uses a router for these too he has just informed me 😛

Ancorp

Well i gotta tell ya straight up you wont be seeing no pictures im afraid BUT I DID hehehe soz couldn't help maself, bloody exciting stuff when ya flick the switch and see a massive colour screen on ya wall aint it lol I will borrow ma buddies digital camera that i have been using to take the other build shots hopefully over the weekend if not early next week definately (will give me a few days to construct ma screen hehe) You will be impressed Ancorp bloody maaaaarvelous. Trev definately has the optics sorted for this particular setup no doubt.

Big thanks again to Trev...fantastic stuff mate thanks for the great service and advice much appreciated mate...Pies on me when ya back in OZ no doubt 😛

Well I been playing with my projector over the weekend, moved it into my lounge room and hung a white sheet up on the wall had an image a tad over 3 meters on the wall I was very impressed (no Ancorp afraid I didnt get hold of ma mates digital this weekend) But I do have a problem with a rather hot LCD im afraid :-( Have decided also to build another box, more than likely identical to my last except a mirror image of it so as I can mount the Lilliput upside down this time as fliping it with the computer is a hassle as I run it in dual mode with my desktop monitor. I spoke to Trev regarding my LCD heat problems and he has suggested swapping the 80mm fan I currently use on the LCD for one like this http://www.pccasegear.com/prod1642.htm So I will be ordering this during the week. Wont be long before the second projector is up and running as I have everything here this time hehe (minus the fan of course) But the wait will be worse for me now I have sampled the excellence of a 3 meter screen :-(

Shall keep ya all posted on the progress.

Tekko...

All things going well I should have my second projector finished by mid week, have been working all weekend on it it's comming together very nicely, no camera here at the moment but I have spoken to my friend he is dropping his off for me Wednesday so I shall post some pics of my new projector INCLUDING screen shots (just for you Ancorp hehe) Shouldn't have a problem with cooling in this one, im running two 120mm fans on the lamp and a 100cfm blower fan on the LCD and the light is reflecting off a mirror onto the LCD, similar in design to the Pico projector other than the light path.

Shall keep you posted, thanks for the interest 🙂

fans

I've been running my 250 Watt MH projector for a couple of days now, and I have just one 65 cfm rubber-mounted fan cooling it. I have run it for hours and the fresnels & LCD never even get warm.

I have two design suggestions that I think are working very well for me:

1) The fan pulls air through the metal light box surrounding the lamp, then through a duct, and dumps it outside the box. So hot air from around the lamp never gets mixed with the rest of the air in the box.

2) I have a hot mirror filter between the lamp and the condensor lens, so 90% of the IR gets sent back into the metal around the lamp to be removed by the cooling air. The condensor lens gets just warm to the touch, not hot.

Sweet setup there guy unfortuneately for me a hot mirror aint an option short term as they aint available in Australia. I do have the two 120mm fans set on 3/4 speed in a push pull configuration, one is in front of the light box blowing air through and over the lamp and the second fan is sucking the air through and out of the box. I have the light directed to a mirror (standard mirror at this point unfortuneatly so I will have to deal with light loss and less than perfect reflection angles) then onto the lcd. Im hoping this will take care of my cooling issues for the time being. Sanding and painting today, camera arrives tomorrow so will have some pics up of the setup and screens of the image 🙂 Cheers for your input guy always interested in reading whatever you post always very informative 🙂
