dice45,
I was wondering if I could participate in the Maxon motor/pulley buy? If anyone would like to free up a 949, I sure would like to have one (please). Otherwise, would you know the difference between the 941 and the 945?
Thanks,
Joe Eberly

Joe,

of course you can participate. The question which motor to choose is mainly PS convenience. Nominal speed of the motor is between 5900 and 8800 rpm. But the motor is intended to be used at 1000 to 1200 rpm for 33rpm platter speed.
The lower the nominal voltage for full speed is, the lower the needed PS voltage for 1000 rpm. Speed and PS voltage are almost linearly proprotional.
It is a pain to get the linear voltage regulator work properly at 1 Volt. the same is no problem for 6 or 7 volt. That's all.

I am not enthusing to negotiate with the others who retracts his bid on the 949 partially. But you can be happy with the 941, 6 left and it will do a fine job. Apart fromthe different winding, is is the same motor model, bearings are friction sleeves, commutator is multi-finger sheetmetal.

All,

could yuo please read changes in the order list and make up your mind what you need, tell me eventual changes?

Dale,
any news about the 1µ0 group deal?
I presume this is handled by you completely and i handle the smaller values and the maxons.

Re: MKV B25839 & TT maxon motor, orders please!

My definitive shopping list:

EPCOS
0µ47 / 700V ac:
peterr: 6x
0µ33 / 700V ac:
Peterr :2x

maxon 2028.949-61.121-025
(48V for nominal 6440 rpm; the motor is NOS before i remove the gear wheel):

peterr: 3x
VEM with pulley:
(for the impatient ones, can be ordered right now (??V for nominal ???? rpm; the motor is NOS) :

peterr: 1x
Pulleys:
peterr: 1x (set for tape or string)

😕 😕 😕 I haven't a clue what collet chuck clamping is, but if this means you can reuse the pulley it's fine by me.  And  I like to have seperate tape and string pulleys

Bernhard,
The pulley kit with collet is an excellent idea. Please disregard the e-mail I sent to you. I hit the <enter> key by mistake in the forum email screen... If the last 941 motor is still available I would like to have it also. this would be:
2x Maxon 941,
1x pulley kit
If I can help with motor distribution in US let me know. Your effort is greatly appreciated.
Joe

All,
i want to report that i have the caps sitting on my place and that the maxon motors also are here and pinions already removed. Who wants either of both fast shall tell me.

Dale,
anything new with the 1µ0 MKV?
Any chance to get 90 pieces together? Or does the group buy work out for 70 pieces too?

Dale and all,

i wonder if this 90 pieces 1µ0 MKV group purchase ever is to happen. And i am quite upset that i do not hear it is stopped, and i do not hear it is pushed forward. I hear nothing. :irked:

Meanwhile i learned that the 90 pieces order minimum is the minimum production lot. This means that if anyone, even over here, approaches Epcos and orders this lot, they manufacture it.
I have one or two people interested to join our group purchase, provided that the initial order is placed here and not in NYC. They told me they wold be interested in atleast the missing 20 pieces, maybe even order another 90 pieces. If the order is placed in Europe. I did not pay US$14 for my MKVs although i got them from Farnell
which is considered to be expensive. If i go over a distributor, i maybe can get them here, maybe even at a decent price.
So, if i can get a local dsitributor to place the order at Epcos, or even order from Epcos directly, i take over. But i expect all who ordered to stand by their order.

If there are objections, i want to hear them now.

Bernhard,
Greetings from New York. I haven't been following the forums too closely late, so I'm not sure I understand the difficulties you have been having with all the orders. I can imagine that it is a lot of work and aggravating if people are not being very responsive.

I just wanted to speak up and let you know that I still stand by my original commitment as documented on the 1st page of this thread. I'm not in any hurry, so I could even pick them up in person. My trip is firming up and I'll be visiting Munich on the dates I mentioned in previous emails.
Looking forward to seeing you and the rest of the Munich gang. I'll send private email with more details.
Regards,
---Gary

All,

i have had contact to Epcos directly. Lucky me stumbled right into the guy who is responsible for MKVs. He told me that the B25839 indeed is revoked and unless there is a lot on stock somewhere in USA, he respectfully doubted that the US distributor will be able to supply 90 pieces.

The guy promised me to look if there is some stock left; he will tell me until end of this week.
