reservation for the pulleys is still open to orders. I have a pulley kit in mind having 4 pulleys:
for string, smooth
for string, rough
for tape/flat belt, smooth
for tape/flat belt, rough
and a set of collet chucks for shaft diameters 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 2.5mm if desired.
The pulleys will be hard-coated (a special sort of anodizing). From my experience with banknote processing systems, i know that hard-coated pulleys can cope with banknotes and still have a life expectance of years whereas uncoated pulleys are worn off in less than a week.
Concerning the pulleys, we either have to be patient or pay Euro 90 per machine hour plus initialisation costs at a regular manufacturer. Which can make prices sky-rocket considering the comparatively low part count. Consider, i have in mind to maintain the run quality of the maxon shaft while having the pulleys interchangable.
I have an agreement with my buddy Peter, the pulleys will be test parts to run his new CNC lathe in. So part prices will be very reasonable.
My buddy is an EE with precision machining as his hobby. And he is not getting forward alltoo fast in getting his new CNC lathe hauled and running. Like with many of us, including me, with our DIY projects; too many projects, not enough time. I pester him every other day and i help him hauling stuff on any occasion to get the space free for the new machine.
He wanted to have his machine hauled end of this week but i am undergoing dentist torture and after collecting a new crater in the jaw, i am not going to haul stuff. But i doubt he is ready end of this week. Maybe next week.
Hey, yesterday he complained about his new machine getting rusty on the yard, due to bad wheather. two other days and he is in panic and pushing the hauling really forward. So i hope 🙂
