waiting for dice45

I am waiting for dice45 to respond. He mentioned that he was going to check the availablity of the caps at Burklin.

I really DON'T want to be the US coordinator for this.. if in fact the caps are no more at Burklin.... as my free time is very limited.

I can forward you the sales-reps e-mail if anyone is interested.

Meanwhile lets wait fore dice45.

Thanks!!!

Sikorel power supply capacitors.

What is the availability of the Epcos/Siemens Sikorel series power supply capacitors in Europe? Last time I checked I couldn't seem to find them anywhere in the states. Does anybody have any information on availability?

Thanks,

Bad news

All,
Today i went to Bürklin .. they told me the MKV 25839 is not available any longer. Finito  ..No matter which value. Epcos ceased to make them, ceased to stock them.😡

RichardJones, if you can lay your hands on a lot of 90 pieces right now, i want to order MKVs from you, right now (as experienced record collector, i say: never-ever skip a chance, it won't come back).

I will check if any other distributor in Germany has some of them in stock. but i doubt it.

I DON'T HAVE TIME!!!

Like I said earlier. I DON'T have time to be the US distributor of 90 pieces of this stock.

I was forwarding the message I received direct from EPCOS.

Its not just the purchasing... but all the US and international shipping.

If anyone else want's to volunteer to do this... I can forward the emails... and talk to the rep and tell them whats going on.

Richard Jones.

Hi Guys,

I just talked to EPCOS (Jay Singh) and they will have a distributor get me a quote. The price will be somewhere in the USD $10.00 a piece range and will only include the 1uF value.

Also, they will only sell in a qty of 90 minimum. That would mean at least USD $900.00. I will post the exact quote and then we can determine if it is worthwhile.

Best Regards,

Dale

P.S. Are they really worth the hassle?

Dale,
yes, i would say so. They are worth the hassle. Says capacitor loather Bernhard.

I have tried them out in a huge comparative listening as coupling cap with about 100mV across in a SS preamp, worst you can do to a cap. Caps love heaps of bias. The MKV '39 went back in the circuit about 4 times (crosschecking, could not believe it) for critical listening (2-4 hours per session) and everytime in those 3 month i wanted to listen to music and not to equipment.

With exception of the MKY, the MKV '39 bettered all other caps in almost every respect. Differnence was dramatic in voodoo aspects like sustain of listener's focus and weird positive body sensations and PRaT but also in hifi aspects like tone colour saturation and distinctability, detail resolution, absence of distortion, blackness of the background, 3dimensionality of soundstaging.

Methinks, they are worth the hassle.

this may help

Will this make me Forum Saint?

www.conrad.de still have some B25839 (100n, 470n, 1u; 220nF NOT) and ship international COD. The site is in German, though, and you have to register etc.

I ordered mine Monday, and got them here today. The mailman even forgot about the payment 😀

On the site, go

Bauelemente, Epcos, Epcos Kondensatoren, ...

or click here

Werner,
'fraid its too late to become saint, Conrad has only 2 pieces left. Maybe zero, i am undecided.

All,
please tell me QUICK! how you all plan to distribute the 90 pieces. I found another source and am very reluctant to participate on the 90 piece order as customs fees and VAT are very high for int'l orders. I would like to buy my needs over here. But if my lot is needed to cover the 90 pieces, maybe i can be convinced to participate.
Tell me, but hurry!

Hi Again,

Just got off the phone with the importer. He is going to contact a distributer (Sager, Pioneer, mouser, newark, digikey, etc) and get a formal quote. Mr Walker mentioned (USD $10-15). He kept trying to get me to buy a replacement. I had to finally fess up and explain our audiophile ways.

Geez, Peter, I do not want Mr Percy's job...
