Soundhappy - Thank you for your feedback and documentation . I've seen this Dinsdale diagram , but I haven't heard what it sounds like . When I was young, I had a germanium transistor power amplifier . But that was a long time ago . And probably soon I will build a germanium power amplifier again . Now I have free time for such projects .

First I have to complete another Phono preamp . It will be the 6th in my current collection ...😉

Showing my age!!
I remember these when they came out.
Just when I first became interested in electronics.

Good old days....we need now germaniums projects updates with new topology tricks 😀

Phono and line preamp in the same box maybe ?
Chassis in post # 117 look very nice
This chassis will have 2 Phono preamps . One is silicon, and the other is germanium . The germanium scheme is like this - this is the famous JBL scheme of 1964 . The original JBL 520 product is very rare and expensive now . Settings for the cartridge and MC-preamp will be added ...

Some more Transistors
.Should keep me going for some time
And yes I know some are silicon.

Auction link for hobby amateurs in USA only , probably one rare Shindengen 2SB206 in working condition.
Auction start price is 2 $ with heatsink included Heat Sink with Shindengen 2SB206 Power Transistor | eBay
With the shorted transistor You can cut and open metal case to see what big germanium die looks like. Have fun

I ran the service department at an Olson's Electronics store in 1971 and 1972. We sold the Motorola HEP replacement parts. I never knew that the Zenith parts existed, but that Zen 325 is a Motorola HEP-230, right down to the packaging. I probably used close to 100 pairs of them replacing 2N2147's in dead stereos from the late 60's in the two years that I worked there.
One of the Voxson receivers that we sold used a germanium PNP paired with a Silicon NPN (2N3055) in a complimentary pair design. Guess which one blew?
The HEP-230 would give the Voxson a 50-50 chance that the fuse would pop if the speaker wires shorted.....a significant upgrade from the 100% chance that the SGS germanium part would blow. SGS is now part of ST after the merger with Thompson.

Make work germaniums with more care about maximum case temperature and a clean stable psu,
design solutions who brings better performance but was made too late....after the 50's and 60's.
It's interesting to think Ge with updated 2020 topologies and new possibilities.
Edit: Congratulation to 2SB206 auction winner 2$ with heat sink

Not even, was just for the two complete screw kits 😛
