This very simple type of amplifier was the first that I built when I started electronics in the early '60s.
I used it to amplify a crystal detector radio and later as a preamp in a disco set-up.

There are these. They were on sale last week for $5 each, but I did not buy any.....too many project in que already. I can't find any specs, but I looked up the schematics for the HP scopes they go in. They are always used as a pass transistor in the power supply. In one application they have about 45 volts across them plus ripple. In another application three are stacked for a little over 100 volts. No idea what the Ft is though.
This is a new item in a surplus house. If nobody buys them they will be on sale again, possibly cheaper, depending on how many they have in stock.

Non LTspice around , components connected by copper wires quickly between nails fixed by hammer on the wood.
Image and sound quality are " expressionist" spontanious , sketchy.
Ge investigator play music, look at the oscilloscpe, enjoy real time modifications, recheck parameters , adjust trimmers again etc.

After Silicone Carbide (SIC) and Gallium Nitrite (GaN) semiconductors the new transistors are paradoxaly the old vintage
first generation Germanium (Ge). Unknow for 99% majority, even transistors silicone (Si) veterans.

I recently took apart an old portable reel to reel, which was given to me, not working, and salvages some germanium transistors
I did not hesitate, I searched and searched, till I found, and I built preamp and buffer, and I am working on making it active crossover, except some other projects took precedence
Beautiful second harmonic pleasing distortion, what else one needs?

This thread is pretty funny. There is a reason why germanium transistors were abandoned in favor of silicon.
There is a reason why many natural things were abandoned . And they were replaced by cheap stuff .
Yep.. I have a sansui au777. Full of germanium transistors.
It sounded like both like bipolar and tubes. Very sweet sounding.. I wonder anybody will start to do a nice germanium preamp. That would be awesome
