Okey, let the PSU suggestions roll. 🙂 let's make a superduper one 😀

Tobias, I think an adjustable solution is best, one like yours, or even Alcaids supply. The overiding concern needs to be compact size to go along with the stellar performance, so that it matches our nice little pre. 😀. Also, so we can maybe get a set in one nice panelized board. this is a rocking thread indeed!

Yeah it would be nice to finish that da*n board
I do not think it would be all that nice!! I did manage to get a Penpall and a lot of knowledge from this thread 🙂 Yep, I mail with G. now and then🙂 Also the general enthusiasm on this thread has just been a great experience😉 We had a bit of noise and some odd postings, but what the heck. I for one have just enjoyed it all😀 😀 Just have to say I love this thread😀
Well, to get back to business, I think a LM317/337 board with a pot for adjustment would be the most appealing to most people!
The pot means that you can, ofcourse adjust the needed Voltage!
So the PSU would be usefull for a lot of things😉

Steen🙂

forgot to tell that it was polyprop. caps i was looking for, MKT is polyester right?
MKT is Polyester allright! I am on the lookout for some Polyprop's for the X-CCS-BosoZ I am building. Let me know if you want in on that. I buy nothing unless it is cheap😉 They will be at least 10uF, preferrably bigger🙂

Steen.

They would propably do, they look like standard Bourne's pots😉
Any 25 turn multitrimmer would do. If you know the R of that particular resistor ofcourse🙂 Well, if the res. is..... Wait I will have to figure this out😀 You generally have to hit a pot in the middle of your wanted value🙂 Then you are able to adjust to both sides🙂 Quite cool🙂

Steen😎

ok, now i must dump my bosoz and start over with the x-css
No you do not need to, I lived happily with my BosoZ for years😀

Yeah 18V.. as a safety you're right.
Yep, someone did fry a OPA627, I wont say who, but maybe it was R...
W....😀 Still, I think the 317/337 supply is good enough for this application! Some will say that the 78xx /79xx is good enough!
I see no point in going for the second best for this application though! Being a Preamp, it should have a quiete supply! Or maybe I am getting too old?? He-he.......

As pots maybe don't come in many different values a 2k pot maybe the best and to get 18V MAX the resistor could be 1.2k
That gives 7.5V-17.9V

1.25V (1+(R2/R1))

lowest adjustment = 1.25(1+(1200/240)) = 7.5
highest adj. = 1.25(1+(3200/240)) = 17.92

Also a 2k pot with a 1.54k resistor to give a range of 9.27 - 20.4 volts which would be good if you want 20 volts at the powersupply and then regulate it again on the PCBs down to somewhere below 18 volts.

It is just a simple resistor swap, but I think the series resistor with the pot is a good way to go.
