John is correct.

I have experience in IS9002 and you should only need to supply samples and technical evidence for this type of claim.

As a means of perhaps explaining how the supply chain of these kinda parts works go here:

If you are a registered member and choose ESCROW there is some protection.

But if the transaction is direct with a provider you are wide open to be exploited which appear to be the case here.

If you do a search for the 2SK389 there are a number of stock sources but the reality is it doubtful any of them are genuine parts.

I tested the water on this sight about two months ago and only one supplier offered to prove the parts were genuine. The genuine suppliers replied they actually had no stock after I request a quote. The prices in this instance were over US$8.00. This is line with John's comments. Some quoted less than $2.00. I would anticipate these quote would be on fraudulent parts.

I don't doubt there are genuine some parts available but it would be important to use a proper process such as EScrow to ensure the type of situation above does not re occur.

I have no idea what A'af arrangements were or what his back up plan is but it might be worth exploring the above links "IF" you are looking a a quantity purchase. Otherwise just buy a few at the time from a reputable retailor.

Yes, John, you did issue a warning albeit in a different thread (it was in your response to A'af in the Blowtorch epic: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1364204#post1364204). You were absolutely correct. Grataku was also quite sceptical about this GB. Thank you both for your concern.

However, A'af REPEATEDLY reassured us that he was honest then just as he is trying to reassure us now. I chose to believe him and stood by him in good faith. I trusted him as an old member and a trusted diyaudio seller and supporter and believed him to be experienced enough to recognize fake parts when he sees them. To think otherwise would imply that ALL diyaudio sellers (and members) are potential frauds, regardless of what they tell you?!

As they say, once bitten, twice shy. Now I'm not even sure that A'af is just a middleman in all this. If he had come to us today with a concrete refund schedule, I would have been prepared to turn a blind eye and believe it was all an odd misunderstanding, an honest mistake...whatever. But, there is no schedule of any kind, no definitive plan of action, no nothing. I'm sorry, that's not good enough for me anymore. I want my money back unconditionally.

Where is the accountability from you?

There are many patient members here who have taken time to offer constructive input on how to deal with the issue.

As an observer and as one who has taken on the responsibility for the completion of far more ambitious projects if I was to open this thread and read your post for the first time you appeared a little flippant and cocky about the organising this before and now after the whole mess has surfaced like its some else's problem.

This is one of the key reasons I did not proceed.

The reality is you gambled and spent other peoples money irresponsibly.

I don't really think this kind of response adds to your credibility. It almost sounds like a threat. It is certainly degrading to us as you're implying that the energy, time and money we are losing with you are of no significance to you.

I don't understand what you mean by "other members waiting". What other members? Waiting for what? Are you saying that you intend to continue doing this on diyaudio.com? If so, I'm asking moderators to suspend any new GBs by you until this thing is resolved to our satisfaction. You belong to Vendor's Bazaar anyway.

I repeat, I expect to see my refund within the next week.

Am i the only one thinking that this i getting way out of proportions ?

Come on, give the guy a break. He came forward, promising to correct this unfortunate situation, and is met with threats and hostility. Give him a chance to show his honesty, which i personally think he deserves.

I intend to ship these double transistors back, and wait a reasonable time to let A'af twist the arm of the supplyer.

We were all "hungry" enough when chances were, that we could make a good deal. Now it seems some are more hungry for blood.

Some of the responses don't help. A'af is here and trying to deal with the issue given the timing over the holidays, language, and distance and some of you are just nasty over this. No-one is happy -I bought 60 devices and have issues to resolve, but give the guy a break he was doing us a favour and it back fired on all of us. Those who want a refund without returning the product have a trust issue to deal with for getting burnt to start with - but likley have no use for the BJT's and I know of no merchant here who would give you a refund for returning nothing.

I'm not sure everybody fully understands the issue here. Manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit goods is ILLEGAL. We are all required to report this illegal trafficking to relevant authorities in our countries. We are already breaking the law by discussing how to launder these fakes back into the system. If you want to be part of that, be my guests. I don't and I rest my case.

Let's look at it this way: you got fake $100 bill from a merchant, after a while you noticed it and try to return it. Do you honestly believe you will get your money back?

Fake devices are made to rip people off and to be returned for a refund.

If you send them back, they will be used to rip more people off.
