It's no Revelator, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it to the 1K I used here. Pair it with something like the Beast Mode tweeter in a 6 or 8 inch waveguide and it would make a cool, cheap large 2-way.

Attached are in-box measurement of the woofer. One is distortion the other is gated. As I said, I wouldn't be afraid to use it all the way to 1K. It might even do well as an old school 2-way using the top end roll off as the crossover.
Sorry for potato quality pictures but its all I have (I think).

"I am glad I tested all the woofers I had as it resulted in one making the cut that I didn't even consider initially, the GRS 8SW-4. The 8SW-4 has smooth frequency response up past 2 kHz which was totally unexpected since it is labeled as a subwoofer. Funny how it's actually better suited for 2-way designs and has a smoother frequency response then any of GRS's other 8" woofers."

Devore Orangutan 0/93 nice plywood baffle

DEvore 0/93 Dimensions: 35.5″h x 15″w x 10″d
-------
Past days (before Devore)- some floor standing speakers:
Found locally on Kijiji
Coincidentally (?), similar size.

Pioneer CSG7000
35.5"h x 15" w x 11 5/8 d

Kenwood Speakers
36" h x 15" w x 11" d

Infinity SM122 Tower speakers
35.5"h x 15" w x 13" d
------

One could acquire (reuse) an old 35" x 15" x ? speaker. Figure out your box volume requirements. Add braces, damping, stuffing, new front baffle (wood? paint?)
One could even make a 35.5″h x 15″w x 10″d box.

Example of a painted baffle-

Funny- $1000 pr - Oak Stands (go to the High School woodshop, "Hey kid copy these...." )
Devore Orangutan O/Baby
Dimensions: 35" (889mm) H × 14.75" (375mm) W × 9.75" (248mm) D (including stands).

https://theaudiobeatnik.com/devore-fidelity-orangutan-o-baby-speakers-review/

"Like the O/96s, the O/Baby speakers need stands. They are $5,600 without stands. You can use them with any 12-inch stands, or you can get solid oaks stands from DeVore Fidelity, that is a mix of Japanese and mid-century modern. While these are expensive at $1,000, when combined with the speakers, they make for a very eye-popping look."

"It uses an Eminence Alpha 8 driver along with a Vifa DX25 tweeter. Crossover is nothing more than a 10uf Zen capacitor in series with the tweet and an 0.5mH air-cored inductor in line with the main driver. A 16ohm Ohmite resistor in parallel with the tweeter tames the impedance curve.

Cabinet to your liking, example- Wide body looks good, built with a Nice plywood baffle and black sides.

8" Eminence Alpha 8A Pi One -Walton Tower

Pionet Cabinet dimensions - diyAudio
"Cabinet is 2 cubic foot and is tuned to approx 50hz by means of a 4" x 4" port. Window braces are used in the upper and lower sections. There is also horizontal braces behind the driver and just above the port that are fixed at 45 degrees. Finally, a couple more braces are also added to the rear wall opposite the port. Internal damping is 2" fibreglass on one wall and the back and 4" top and bottom. The addition of a felt surround around the tweeter smoothes the top just a little."

MCM 55-2960 RAW FREQUENCY RESPONSE

May 23, 2018 – Preliminary Listening Test in 25 liters Ported Box. (Port Dia=2″. Length=6.50″)

No crossover is used. Audition with woofer in RAW state.
Mid-Bass (80Hz-125Hz) – Dynamic. Detail. Tight. No Bloom.
Low Bass (40Hz) – Audible. No Bloom.
Vocals (125Hz upwards) – Sounds Flat. No audible peaks.
Bass and Vocals Balance – Good. Bass doesn’t over-power voices.

Conclusion

Despite the widely different Thiele & Small Parameters, the MCM 55-2960 sounds perfectly fine.
Suitable for PA and even HiFi. Fantastic value for $15.21.
