If you search there are at least two threads on here that describe variations on the Dynaco A25/Seas A26 speaker including larger vented boxes and alternative tweeters and woofer (Morel CAT378 and Eminence BP102 spring to mind).

However, these speakers have been designed around some fairly unique properties of the drivers. They key ones being that the woofer has a very smooth fall off at high frequencies (it effectively has a 1st order low pass filter built into the design I.e. high inductance) and the tweeter similarly has a smooth rise at lower frequencies. The result is that you can use a first order electrical crossover on both.

Here is one of the threads https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/10-two-way-seas-a26-alternatives.310176/

"Listening Impressions

I am listening to the 10FE200-4 without any crossover and I must admit she sounds wonderful. There’s no brittleness or harshness in the treble. I’m so impressed that I would even recommend using the 10FE200 for public announcement or speech reinforcement. There’s no need for any horn because the 10FE200 extends to 4kHz. This bandwidth covers the human voice."

I want to use this as a pa vented box woofer can you suggest box size port diameter and port length?
Rajinder S.Feb 24, 2017
Best Answer: I would recommend using this in a 2.5 cubic foot box that is tuned to 50 Hz. Two 3 inch ports that are 2-1/2 inches long would do well here.

I want to use this driver in the smallest enclosure possible (ported), reaching ~ 45hz, does anyone have any suggestions?
David MAug 13, 2017
Best Answer: We would suggest this driver as a mid range or mid bass driver used with another woofer below it for the low end. When I model it I get 3 cubic feet for 45 Hz using a 5" port that is 1.5" long, but the driver is limited to about 65 watts RMS before it bottoms out. However, it would work well as a mid with another woofer below it to take up the slack for the low end and allow this driver to play mid bass and midrange frequencies which it would be better suited to produce.

I heard De'Vore silverbacks and they are easily as good as anything selling for that price or at double of it. Jeff , the owner said he had those Orangutans in the room and they were like Ole Spendors for Grandpas comparably - woolly and unrefined. Incidentally, I
've only seen them being owned and raved on by 75+ young audiophools sporting hearing aids.... This besides the DIY folk, who sensed blood on the scale of 47 labs cloning spree and "Savings". Have you no pity on those trees you will sacrifice buying all this plywood because you think you're saving big ?

Who said anything about plywood. These aren't clones- no Seas woofer, no Seas Tweeter or no Morel Tweeter. Devore uses mdf box with plywood baffle (he must have some pity on those trees).
Just similar boxes-Alternatives, woofer fullrange. Clones would be exact-including drivers.
Anyone with bookshelf speakers @ the size of Rogers LS3/5A- are you calling them clones?

limono please post your concerns here (people even used plywood to build the boxes (Gasp)-

I'm calling a spade a spade. There is Devore Orangutan cloning spree going on on DIY audio comparable to Proac cloning spree some years ago and 47 Labs cloning spree where supposedly big bucks can be saved and your post is pointing an even cheaper alternatives to get something close to actually nobody or only a very few know WHAT. It is entirely greed motivated activity since three legged dog wouldn't sniff that "design" for free if not for John DeVore pricing it to stratosphere probably knowing that morons on DIY audio will grab it like a Holly Gospel and will sing the prizes of timeless beauty of that genius design.
How can anyone be such an idiot is beyond my comprehension

So I can't use the dimensions (similar-not exact) of a Devore Orangutan 0/93?

How about a 50 Litre box still different drivers-Alternative (not a clone-a facsimile)
https://www.visaton.de/sites/default/files/dd_product/W 250 S_9034_9035_0.pdf

I wonder if the Devore Orangutan 0/93 is a cl--- of the old Boston Acoustics A100 (timeless)? Spade a spade?

Is this the basis of any builds?

"The A26 loudspeaker design is based closely on that of the legendary Dynaco A25 loudspeaker"
shame a clone.

Devore Orangutan
https://positive-feedback.com/Issue75/devore_orangutan.htm

"PF: What speaker most influenced the design of the O/93? I've read reviews citing its similarity to certain Audio Note or Snell boxes (I own the Snell J/II series).

John DeVore: There aren't many 10" 2-way speakers out there, an old Boston Acoustics model here, a Dynaco there, though both of those are well over 30 years old. Original Snells were an influence too, but all these were fairly inexpensive, compromised designs. They did do one thing though; the Bostons in particular, suggested to me what potential there might be in a 10" 2-way speaker with a 1" dome tweeter. I sold the Bostons when I started in retail, and it was clear to me that the 10" 2-way was far better than the more expensive model in the line that added a midrange driver. More influential though were the larger designs from Altec and the like. Explosive dynamics, rich tonal colors, high sensitivity and high impedance. The goal of the Orangutan series was to provide a large measure of those qualities, without the drawbacks, in a domestically acceptable (even desirable) package."

Nobody but Devore knows what the Devore crossover is. If someone copies the crossover then it could be a true clone. But there's so many alternatives.

If someone builds a box with different dimensions than a Devore product then it's not a clone.
Different drivers- not a clone,etc
Different boxes, drivers, crossovers = different sound.
What's a clone?
This thread says, "Alternative"
If the Moderator(s) want to change the title or anything in this post to,
"10" woofer and tweeter combos for 2.5 cu ft or 70 litre boxes" go ahead.

I built mine without the woofer with the same baffle width and mid and tweet location and used the Golden Ratio for the height. Using them near field with a Nelson Pass ACA amp kit and they sound wonderful. I too wonder if using more esoteric drivers would increase the pleasure ( or just drain the wallet)? After some thought, I do not think more expensive drivers would be a wise investment with this design. it is very darn good just the way it is. Using an 8" Yamaha NS-SW050 subwoofer and it works very well."

If anyone builds any of these options please let us know.
With some smart choices the speaker pair should come under $20,975.84 CAD and the 'drain on the wallet' won't be too bad.
