Hi Dave, although i can't say that i have understood your guide,i must thank you for your interesting.Typically, pushing the potential panel resonances up in freuency (with braces) where they are much harder to excite is a good thing. But it can go wrong, and i have seen many boxes not optimally braced… in particular you often see this guideline broken:
The aspect ratio of the subpanels defined by the brace should be higher than the aspect ratio of the panel being subdivided — and the ratios should be different (ie off centre brace).

May be you can tell more if i will post the exact cabinet dimensions.
I wiil do this soon.🙂
Thanks again
Thimios.
Just finished up my first pair of DIY speakers. After lots of searching I decided on Dayton RS100 4 ohm drivers mounted in Cyburg Needle (folded Voigt pipe) type cabinets. Instead of using MDF i went with BB/BB Baltic Birch plywood for strength, durability, and i wanted to attempt applying a decent looking finish to it without having to veneer the cabinet.
Very nice work Andrew. Please post pics of the measurements.

...since the communists banned denatured alcohol in California... like they already did with Naptha, Mineral Spirits, MEK, Benzine, and pretty much every other solvent except Acetone...
I'm pretty sure you can still get denatured alcohol, mineral spirits and naptha. I currently have these on hand but it's been a while since I bought any, so who knows...
Nice job on your project!

Why anyone uses Minwax products is beyond me, except that they don’t know any better. They are forever banned from my shop.
Well, I use Minwax paste wax that I bought about 20 years ago and I really like it.
I've also been using General Finishes, great finish but a bit pricey.

1st off the brace is running the wrong direction.

What can i do, l must cut the brace as a single oval hole as in post #4352, or remove the brace completely?1st off the brace is running the wrong direction.
dave
Speaker is 12",no way for different place.

The brace should run vertically (in the 60cm dimension) so as to have subpanels with higher aspect ratio than the original). I usually make the brace so that it braces the speaker driver agent the back (&top & bottom) of the cabinet.
You might also consider some side-to-side braces. Ideally a brace every 100-150 cm, but usually not practical.
As long as % holes is holey it matters little how you do that.

Hi Thimios
This full range driver 12-TC250 is very interesting. I understand it is placed in a sealed box of 80 Liters. (let's say something like 35x35x65 net)
What is your experience when playing with an amp in low level volumes? for HiFi use.
I guess in high frequancies the speaker is good but what do you think about low frequancies, does it have same level bass?
If you have more pictures it would be iteresting
Thank you

Howdy! Did your speakers arrive?
Yes they did. Very nice and sound great on OBs.
Thank you for the pics. Very nice job. Maybe the internal bracing wood is taking too much space of the volume. Should the holes behind the driver be larger?
Modified Tabaq with TB W5-2143, after long listening realise needs of some help on mid/hight so add external tweeter with 3.3 uF cap and now sound wonderful.....all the best to everybody 🙂
