Simon sayz: free parts don't come essay! ;-)
Jan
Simon also sayz: But, it could be verse!
I hear there's a box waiting for me at home, thank you Ed!
What? Virtually none of the DIY'ers want free parts? Any of the folks who already have their freebies want to comment?
Trust me I want them, but as I currently can't even find the things I already have so need to sort things out before I even consider having more.
Having said that, if you have any used small stage boxes (8 way or less) that are taking up space...

Let us be sure we are talking about the same thing. A stage box will have female 3 pin XLR connectors in it and connect to a remote location with matching males.
Or do you want a plate with XLR style connectors on it?

I guess a lot of people already have a bunch of stuff kicking about.
I am over the moon as a noob with next to nothing beforehand.

My experience too, offering my own parts from my personal stash most folks decline.
I mean I got a couple of 8-8.5 mohs scale stones! 🙂
Ed -- you might have some odd connectors I'll be needing for my cnc build, but I'll pm you (and I fully expect to pay for them).

If any of you are around Boulder CO, at SparkFun, they have a box for recycling inside the main door that always had tons of parts in it. I have reached in and just filled my pockets at times with brand new things. I'm too lazy to even package and send my unused things.

Yup That's the sort.
@Scott: Happy to take a box of unobtainium devices off you. I just have a guilt over being unlikely to do anything with them for the next 10 years!

As I have not done for the last 20yr.
Would love to take some pcb's or kits if you have some to offer. I would appreciate anything really that might give me some direction to go on. Currently looking into building an amp for my Tannoy Little Gold Monitors. Here is my short essay - There is so much in life that might that might leave one with a sense of wonder, a sense of joy and pleasure. But it seems that so much of it is now bought and sold. It takes away from it all. Sometimes though you come across people in life that don't want to sell you anything, but rather they have found something, it has brought them happiness, and they want to share that with you. Nothing more, nothing less. I have found this quality among many people in the audio hobby, and that has stuck with me through so many years. Something that is both communal in places like this and solitary - when you turn on your gear and it's just you and the music. To put something together yourself that brings you this, is something else entirely. One can spend thousands on a piece of gear, or build it themselves for a fraction of the price, the latter option has always appealed to me. It retains the spirit of it all in a way that is almost not possible for the commercial sector. Which can so easily lead would be audiophiles astray. Please send me some stuff so I can build an amp for my Tannoys and keep the spirit alive 🙂.
