Uh, pics of the finished enclosures???
Just think, audiophiles build 40-50hz bass bins. You can't play 1812 Overture with 40-50hz bass bins. You need a SUBwoofer!

"Sub" in the context of woofers means "below" or "under", rather than a specific frequency. You can't play 1812 Overture with 40-50hz bass bins. You need a SUBwoofer!
You can play a CD of 1812 Overture with bass reflex cabinets with a 41Hz Fb, but if not high passed, the ~8Hz fundamental frequency of the overdubbed cannon shots will make the woofers flap out of phase with the port output, so they will make wind noise rather than the lowest "boom".
That said, there is plenty of upper frequency "boom" in a cannon shot that can make your pants legs flap at 40-50Hz.
When you wrote this, I didn't have any finished cabinets done. I had 4 unfinished cabinets at the time behind my couch.Uh, pics of the finished enclosures???

I still have 5 subwoofers in this room and once done will have 16 of these 15" JBL woofers in addition.

Would you build a 74hz (other than BP4) enclosure and expect to see a 41hz fundamental frequency???
Isn't it a bit overkill?
Choose a side please 😆It sounded incredibly good.
Wall of sound👍🙂
No substitute for cubic inches, or square inches in this case!

What's considered overkill on diyaudio.com is NORMAL on avsforum.com.
Lol yeah probably, I think those guys are serious about getting high output low distortion down to something below 20 Hz. I am not innocent, I have 4 18"s, in my current system plan, sealed, but we will
See if it stays that way 😁
From all of my studies I honestly would like to see a minimum of 2mm excursion at transient peak spl. This has nothing to do with wanting to play to 10hz and everything to do with staying extremely linear for accuracy sake?

My original plan was to do 4 independent lowers, placed symmetrical around me but 1/4th room dimension corner loading has provided such a good FR at my LP that the original idea seems to be not needed.
Hi all, so I have a pair for the JBL 2226J for many years stored away, used something like under 10 times. Would these drivers make good bass bins and what is a good amp to drive them? I would link one to the other in order to reduce the ohms....
I'd recone them as 2235's; 2226's are more of a mid bass driver Once you've done that, simply clone a JBL B-380; plans are on the web for both the factory enclosure and the necessary line level filter A pair of B-380s is just about equiv to the larger and elusive B460. They like power
They (B380 / B460) and the BX-63 Eq network do an amazing job of capturing a sense of venue space in well done acoustic recordings. The intent was to back loudspeakers in a domestic space that were pretty solid down to 45 Hz.
They look great and to see it in a small room would be impressive. I do think you could have tons of bass phase problems as so many woofers in a small room will fight each other.
I have 2 12 inch and speaker placement matters with only 2.
