DX Power supply query
Hi Carlos
I like the look of your amp and have a question about the power supply for the amp - Greg's site: (from DX PSU schematic:- Greg's Web Site).

I've always believed (rightly or wrongly!) that the power supply is the heart of an amp and I always like to upgrade the components where possible.
I will use Mundorf capacitors for the large filter caps but is it also worth upgrading the resistors and caps (R1 to R6 and C1 to C4 & C9 to C10) with fancier 😎 components. What do you think?
Thanks

This is a good idea...if you believe they can result in better sonics
then go ahead because you may perceive such kind of differences.
Our belief is what we need to feel good and feel happy.... i have a friend, a girl, that is awfull alike a bus crash against a wall...but she does not think she is ugly...she is happy as a hell the way she looks.... so...what is real and what is not real does not matter..what matters is what we think, what we feel and what we sense.

Hello guys for those who like TO-3 transistor type I'm working on a new Dx Blame ST layout and I'm trying to make it as elegant as possible, the goals is to have a great design but with a nice vintage look and classic look, I have been checking older models from 1970 to 1980 amplifiers style layout I'm combining this layout styles with today's must common available parts as possible, I know must people will say Dx Blame ST is been done long time ago, I say good stuff does not age is the people thoughts that ages, Carlos help me a lot in many many way so the best I can do is keep he's designs alive for many years to come, I'm not an expert but doing this make me feel great and I love what I'm doing, not for money, nor get famous I'm just a simple guy that like audio amplifiers so here is the layout is not done yet until I'm completly sure all is 100% correct the board is about 160 mm by 108 mm I might be able to compress it a little bit more, this will take time, ok guys have a great day and keep a good work 😀.

Juan

Locate the +ve Power IN and the -ve Power IN and the Power Ground next to each other and preferably next to the output devices.
I have found a video about Dx Blame ST and Supercharged construction

I found this guy while surfing Brazilian audio projects
He assembled a Dx Blame ST and included a preamplifier using a tube

This is the best recording made while a Dx Blame ST
was playing....recording was picked up by a Nokia N8 cell phone.

Help
Hi apexaudio
Can I use your APEX PSU with protect for any DX series amplifier if I want 100 watts for 8R load please suggest me some modification for Your PSU
Short circuit protect will work with low volume level also, and you no need asking my permission, I share my schematics to be used.

Carlos, one quick question can I set the bias cross the 0R22 Emiter resistors ?If yes how much?
I cannot remember anymore...but it looks may be
from 1 to 2 milivolts measured into the 0.22 ohms resistor.
This was checked.

Sorry Meanman..i was thinking into the MKIII
To this one, because Dx Super A feature, the adjustment is 15mV into the NPN power transistor emitter resistor and also 15mV into the PNP power transistor emitter resistor.
Each power transistor will drain aprox. 68mA and the rail will drain 88mA
My old head is mixing channels....this one is Dx Blame thread.

After a long time not listening the Blame ST and cause I do sell it now did fire it up again and now remember why I build it.Very very nice nice sound strong bass, nice voices. This amp realy is worth building.
Yep.. it is really nice.... i have three models
The Dx Blame ES, the ST and Dx Super A.
All them delicious.

This one was a result of a progress.
The first one from the Blame Series was the BLAME YES or Dx Blame ES
But it had some trouble in the VAS...something that may cause loss of a transistor and some disconfort..... then was modified and became Dx Blame ST
Well...at my home i accept the risk and my unit is Dx Blame ES because sounds better...transistor goes hot..but i accept the risk.

Help on PSU One channel of Dx Blame ST
Hi dear Carlos sir
When I browsing This thread in your post #367 I found PSU Layout. Can you have detail Layout TOP,Bottom with component detail .And can this PSU is enough to drive one channel of DX Blame ST. I have 30-0-30 AC 240 VA Transformer.
Please help Me.
Thanks
people having enthusiasm....this is good.
here you have two pictures about the board made by Miguel Nabuco, Mitchel in this forum.
Looks good..this is the supply board...one supply board, as this amplifier will use two separated supplies, one to each channel, ... small 200 watts supplies.
Here we're going iddle, the big rush finished...there they are acelerating.
regards,
Carlos
