Dx Blame ST - Builder's thread - post pictures, reviews and comments here please.

After some 4 years of pleasant use, both channels of my DX Blame ST sadly went off due to a overvoltage in the audio input. The "Q6" devil strikes again! (+V in the output, protection turned on).
Should I place only a resistor between power ground and Q6 collector? I am not in the mood of replacing all those parts for the 2015 updated version...

I replaced Q6 with the same part (BC546), and added a 680 ohms resistor to the collector pin. After the first attempt to have it fixed, nothing happened! Further inspection led to an open R22 (33 ohms). Maybe it faced a higher current, or even was a bad component.
So, first channel contacts ON!
Tomorrow I will disassemble the other side....
Thinking of populating the other spare pair of Nabuco's boards I've got, with this new 2015 release. Is there a place you have commented about those changes? Sorry, but I didn't know about it.

Q7 saturated , causing Q6 to also conduct heavily. This blew your R22.
Adding the 680R at the Q6 collector will reduce the conduction a little.

Q6 at clip - no R = 200ma+
Q6 with 680R = 80ma .... still stressing the BC546 🙁 .
A diode from Q7 collector(cathode) to Q6 base (anode) = 3ma at full clipping !

A good diode with picoamp reverse leakage will "not be there" until it
clips. Q6 will never blow in 50 years.

All "blameless" type amps do this .... no way around it.

Thanks!
You mean, without adding the resistor?
Please, could you suggest "a good diode"?

BAV21. You must make this decision and possibly research for a diode
with < pico amp leakage and a high reverse voltage.
I only use my only blameless for a sub amp -
Carlos will accuse me of a "threadjack" -
you do the datasheet research 😱.
lower reverse leakage will equal lower contribution to amp THD.

Whaaaaat?

I cannot say theadjacker dear Ostry....cannot say that....well.... you already said in my place.😀

Maximum i could say, as you know me very well...that you may behave (not be) as "provocateur"

I am on vacation dear Ostripper...and producing a new amplifier.... this one was designed by God's hands..and it is the one and only can beat Dx Blame ES, Dx Blame ST, Dx Super A, MKIII and some others.

This one, the Blame, is from Blameless....new one is not anymore...and not seeing it you cannot criticise🙂

Watch the specifications of this old Blame.... you know...even without forum support (fixed thread and forum strong help) almost thousand units produced and sounding wide world....oh!...i am sorry to say😱

regards,

Carlos

Do you know smokey dear Ostripper?

He is a friend of mine... he take care of my stuff..when people invade my farm to steal apples..then i call smokey..he has salt slugs and use to shot the back rear sock absorbers of people.

Ahahahahahah!

But will not call smokey...you are nice...and never a threadjacker..never a pirate......never this stuff.

I am on vacations...the picture....designing 6 audio amplifier a day...assembling just 2.....i became lazy...may be Skol beer.

regards,

Carlos

You know guys.... modification Ostripper suggest will harm the amplifier performance

As always happens...trying to increase my amplifier performance to match their own.....🙂

Watch what happens.... this will make my amplifier sooooo good as Ostripper unit.

Picture say..."when fishing, always be aware by the presence of bigger fish"... good advice

Carlos

But the big truth is that i am using the Q6 curse unit

Here, at my desktop...my main amplifier..the one plays music whole day... years playing good music.... a very high performer...now including Dx Supply to help it even more... unbeatable!...by others......only GOT amplifier will beat it (maybe) this one i am using is the Dx Blame ES...the Q6 burner....i keep the stuff as original..... you know why?..... much better performance to my personnal taste.

You can modify my style, or invader's style...... sorry.... other guy's style.... i really will not mind.

You may be excommunicate only...ahahahahahah!🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

regards,

Carlos

I have this song..was captured from a video... a nice guy from USA

That repairs automobile....i can send you this song....then you put it to play using your amplifier...you make digital camera recording and post.

I wanna see if can beat mine..... i am sure will not.... so.... that's the proposal i will make to everyone that try to "fix" my amplifiers...first beat it in performance..then i gonna listen your ideas to fix, to modify, to increase, to upgrade or to update...but not before..... just after you prove can match or beat.

Watch carefully the waveform...thick isnt?.... is that oscilation superimposed?.... wrong!...it is a high level secret... a resource to increase audio performance...it is not Class D, not modulated..it is Class AB, analogical amplifier.

Me and Mitchel (Miguel Nabuco) ... we are like brothers

we match our ideas....we are deeply tune...whatever he makes i help with my ears....he does the same to me.

He is now buiding tuned (specially) Dx Super A to high mids and to treble...also Leach for voice and MKIII specially tuned for bass

Whatever he does i am signing down...as we do stuff together.

Me, Mitchel, Zimmer, Hugh Dean, Juan Vargas Diaz and other friends as Greg Erskine, Meanman, Alex mm, Todd Johnson, Nico Daneel, Daniel Mustran, and many others that use to help a lot...with work....they work.... not only talk or suggest stuff..they put on practice..they test, they listen and then they return to me with a proved suggestion.

I wil not share schematics (for a while)...but i can give you a clue....take the G7000 from Sansui and Marantz 2238B...join bass from Marantz and treble from Sansui....join schematics and make some adapting circuits...some fine touches..then you have GOT.

An advise to young people..from an almost 64 years old man.... start from the best amplifiers as a reference to start your job.... start from that..then make it even better....do not go from scratch...it is obvious that there are people thousand years advanced related you...do not waste your time feeding your pride.... start where people have finished.... from there!

regards,

Carlos

Yes Pacorl, they are almost the same....Kenwood and Sansui... these models you said

But i do not know why .... they sound different...and better to Sansui.

Here it is too much expensive...at least to us..... dollar ratio is 3 by 1 when was 1 to 1 a few years ago...bad economic moment to us in Brazil.

We can find...but i could find units costing 10 thousand USD.... can you believe...do not have the picture..but when found i will show you.

I do not buy stuff by more than the price when new.... no way to me to do that... it is against my own law.

regards,

Carlos
