DSP Xover project (part 2)

Thanks for the PDF. I'll get stuck in to that.

Good question about the amps, so I pulled out an old Trends Audio 10.1 I had and found no hum.

Also tried a 15cm diy SE interconnect from Najda and the other preamp direct to the pins of one channel of the Anaview, and the loud hum is there. My unusual diy cables are not a problem it seems.

I need to rebuild this one board at a time I reckon, when I get the chance🙁

There is a happy ending having shelved this for a few months. Hard to say what changed exactly having changed a few things, but RTFM applies probably, having read page 8 of the manual insisting on nylon screws for two particular stand-offs.

Anyway, hum free currently🙂

Next question!!! Good place to get Najda enclosure made for UK buyer? Just discovered NRG enclosures which look promising. Modushop sound OK/popular of course.

CM3361A USB to I2S issue

Hi Guys,

I am builing 3rd NAJDA setup and using USB to I2S for the first time. I am using LJM CM6631A module from eBay. Unfortunatelly, the NAJDA shows only LEFT channel inputing and no audio from the right channel. I checked the wiring and signals using the scope and all is OK. Any idea what to look for?

Hi,

I found this Configuration tool for the CM6631A, but not sure if it can help me to reconfigure the board to work with NAJDA. Any hint?

Hi

A little question about sampling rates : I have RPI and Volumio as a source, connected through I2S. Is there any interests to make some upsampling in Volumio/RPI ?
And to put a reclocking interface between the two, eg Kali or Ians board ?

I2S Connection RPI - Najda

@JLOP: there were former attempts in this thread to achieve an I2S connection, but it always seemed to be rather hazardous (cable length and quality...).
As I use a RPI with volumio, too, and am hesitating to order a HiFiBerry Digi (+) to connect to Najda, I am very interested in Your solution, not to spare the money for the HiFiBerry, but to have the S/PDIF connections left for other devices and build the RPI in one case with Najda.
Could You explain, which pins You connected and what sort of sockets and cables You used, maybe with one or two photos (if Your connection is reliable)??

@nounouchet: unfortunately there seems to be a jitter problem, but Your solution is beyond my technical skills. So instead of a HiFiBerry Digi (+), the Allo DigiOne S/PDIF output card for RPI might be a compromise, o.k., it´s using S/PDIF instead of I2S, but reclocking. What do You think?

@Nick aka Chapark: Are You alive in this world? Years ago You promised to contact me (and others...) as soon as the expansion board would be available, but nothing happened, and the WAF-Audio homepage is deserted. Hm.
Maybe we have to assume that Nick is aka Tranquility Bass, too?😱

Amitiés and greetings...

RPI to Najda I2S

Hi 30m20

Actually, the most difficult was to find out my stock of female female dupont cables that I lost after moving a year ago 😡. I just could find a few 25 cm long. Hopefully I had the headers at hand.

The connection drawing is attached, for a RPI B+ to Expansion Port (sorry it is a rough draft).

The only precaution I took were
- use one digital ground per signal line
- twist the two cables together

As it was working flawlessly, I even left my RPI in my Najda case with that temporary setup and was surprised not to hear any additional noise on my high efficiency setup. I dont have measures though. Someone here told me that I could try to put 100R resistors in serie to improve impedance matching but It was after my build and have not tried yet. I2S and digital signal path - in-line resistors?

I2S Connection RPI - Najda

@JLOP: Bonsoir...
...bought 25cm connectors, wired everything (twisted each pair 8 times) as shown in Your drawing, confirmed this in the Najda manual and RPI2 pinout description (same as B+), controlled the whole thing several times - but no music.🙁

Najda input selector shows "Ext 1", that´s alright.
I tried each possible "I2S driver" setting in Volumio, including "generic" and "RPi DAC" - for sure rebooting every time after a change - no music.😡
(S/PDIF is working flawlessly all the time)

Do You have any advice, what could go wrong besides the described settings?😕
Are Dupont cables a "must" - I used an available alternative?😕

Merci

Hi 30m20

I dont think câbles might be a problem if you checked continuity & shorts. No red error message in Volumio ? I am using the generic I2S DAC, no resampling or whatever, volume control no mixer . Sure Najda or Volumio not muted 😕? And use expansion port 1 of course, my drawing is from top view. And check « Source Exp1 (I2S) is available only if pin IS_EXT1\ is tied to DGND » as stated in my drawing.

Make sure you use startup procedure as stated in Volumio startup

I2S Connection RPI - Najda

Hi JLOP,
thanks for answering, unfortunately no red error message in Volumio (V 1.55), but I would not expect this, as Volumio does not know what is done (or not...!) with its output.
No muting anywhere, expansion port 1 is used, yes.

A strange observation besides this is, that volume up and down as well as mute buttons do not work any more in Volumio, only using the virtual turning-knob still works (even though volume should not be touched in this digital transmission).

I do not really understand what You mean, but will search for this tomorrow:
"Make sure you use startup procedure as stated in Volumio startup"
(but Volumio works well through analog out...)

Efforts will be continued, thanks for today!
