DIY Sony VFET Builders thread

Volpar
That is shockingly dishonest, what a terrible person you are dealing with.
Among the 20 pieces I have in total, is a spare set for one channel of the TA8650. That means 3 matched pairs, and i should be able to select one more pair that matches these. Hang in there

Hope you can restore the amp, if you choose to keep it (i hope they didnt butcher the amp to make it work with BJTs)

Thank you this is my last email to the store.

I have reviewed your emails as well as the signed guarantee agreement. Neither indicate that removing the cover and looking to validate the device will void the guarantee.

Yes I did ask Prior to making this purchase, I was denied the ability to view the product (to look at the chips inside, check the working condition connected to speakers). I was informed by the salesperson In your pinellas store that “we don't open them or hook them up, we have a very good Guarantee”.

The Equipment Guarantee state if I meet the qualifying conditions (just four are listed) and I have. And I quote “ Sound Exchange will identify and correct the at no charge to you”. This is also repeated in another paragraph with a line added and I quote “an item is deemed not repairable, the customer will receive a refund for the full purchase price of the equipment”.

When can I expect a refund or a repaired uint?

purrfect BAF should be combination of two ways, proper live one and virtual

virtual attendees can bring substantial greenies to cover all expenses for decent broadband coverage, though someone with substantial skill in organizing covering of both Lectures and happenings in other Venues/rooms must be included

One step at a time. But the ball is bouncing back into his court first.
How terrible!

Not sure if you mentioned this already but did you check to make sure that the V-FET's in the other channel are still okay?

Also, I'm not sure if this is helpful but just in case you don't have it already and need it for some reason:

Yes, they do exist. NEC 2SJ19

I am planning to sell my 2SK60 and 2SJ18 at the swap meet very soon. 20 pieces in total, but I have more K60 than J18 (these were all purchased from a sony repairman here in brazil).

I'm not keeping any for myself, in fact I want to let go of most of the unobtanium I have (not just K60 J18). Over the following weeks/months. The money is much needed at this time so don't expect bargains.

I have seven pieces of the ultra-rare 2SJ19 by nec that has never shown up for sale in the non-japanese speaking world afaik. How these ended up in a drawer in an electronic parts shop in Sao Paulo is a bit of a mistery, but I assume it has something to do with the japanese people that have been living in that city for decades, there are plenty of them.

Give me a week

-Alex

edit: I don't have a good idea about shipping and insurance prices at this time, will be looking into all of this very soon.

I will be testing all of these ASAP. I am well experienced in this kind of test, and well aware of their characteristics (bias like JFETs, depletion mode, start with a high Vgs such as 14 volts or even more, will check the datasheets again).
