DIY biamp 6-24 crossover

You could end up with lower distortion and noise by replacing the J113 with 2SK170 (at least on the buffer transistors). Leaving the J113 in for the current sources probably makes sense (per Nelson's article), and would leave some more LSK170s in stock for everyone else in the process!

Be advised that the pinout will absolutely require some tweaking, as the J113 and 2SK170/LSK170 definitely do have different pin ordering, and you'll need to replace the biasing resistors when you make the swap.

My plan is to build it with the J113 first, and then experiment with replacing the transistors later.

Similar to you, @soleboy, I have a B4 in play currently with a pair of JBL 4344 - fantastic combo! Looking forward to the added possibilities with another active crossover.

Thanks for your comment~

As your recommendation, I will use 2SK170 on the buffer.;)

nag Wayne

Nelson can promise (and forget in a blink), while dreaming of new amps :)

I have nagged Wayne, but his interest seems low. We are always mindful
of the words of Joe Sammut who came back to the Pass fold after some
years with Krell Digital and then Krell: "Digital is the road to hell."

We came out with the D1 at the end of the first wave of DAC market,
and when DACs became popular again we neglected to pursue it.

You may recall that we did speakers for a while, also.

In the end, while we did make money on these things we did not find
that these categories particularly fit who we are, and so we decided
to devote our energies to amps and preamps.

And I don't forget. I put things on a spreadsheet and then continuously
push them into the future....

That’s fair. I imagine the short life cycle of digital would make for an endless road to hell :flame:

So I just want to make sure I am reading this right.

If we want a 3 way crossover, we simply daisy chain the output of one crossover into the input of another?

If this is so, which output should feed the second crossover? High or Low?

Any word on when this will be in the store?
I've been wanting an active crossover for my speakers for a long time, but I do not like any of the digital solutions.

Thanks,
-Josh
