I will post the schematic once more, because there are thousands of newbies in our
forum...new members is a more correct definition for them...and some of them are re-discovering this schematic, when we have explored this one deeply...not only me but more 10 guys have done that.
So...why to do it again when 10 guys have made and those schematics are tested and ready to go.....maybe they want to exercise..... well, this is up to them.
To the ones does not know this "generic" amplifier was posted in this forum several years ago and around 100 boards where built.... then i will attach the schematic once more..it is smaller than 25K, a GIF image.
Prior to post questions, i suggest folks to visit these pages:
http://users.tpg.com.au/users/gerskine/dxamp/ i think several questions were already answered there, and some couple of hundred others questions were answered in this same thread..... i cannot ask anymore people to read the entire thread..it is too much big..so, you will have the most needed informations in Greg Erskine pages.
regards,
Carlos

Was just thinking, from your descibtion of its sound, maybe DX could be worth a try fore those who have smaller 2ways
And maybe it would play well with fullrange drivers too
Had these pair of nice output boards fore some years
Each with 4 pair 21193/94
I will try to place the DX driver stage on top of them, with standmounts directly on heatsinks
I have a pair of 36V trafos, and heatsinks
Found some nice cheap supply caps
Shouldnt cost much to do it
Might be time to do something about it

I'm busy too...never mind.....i am producing the Fokker
And that one seems to me will be perfect for you...as will produce lots of undistorted power....200 watts without troubles...and may face 2 ohms loads....this one will make the speaker box to be moving together the punch....i was inspired by the thunderstorm i had in front of my home...i want to re create that sound once again

OMG.. ill follow it. Tell me when its ready i would to give it try with this. running on 2ohms is crazy amp and like you said, "This will make the speaker box to moving together with the punch" like dance with the songs. Dx amp is flexible, btw uncle... last time my friend playing really loud with my dx amp at home, supply rails is about 50+- and the power supply is really hot at that time, while the power amp is normal no, never and ever over heating at all. Im using my last design along with your guide with 4 transistor at output each channel and total is 8 transistor for stereo. Im worried if my power supply is not enough for this Dx Amp. Need to change it soon with more bigger Ampere power supply... 😛
Regards,
Azmi
Yes, power depends how much energy the transformer can provide
Amplifier cannot make miracles.... the output power depends on the transformer power.... you should increase your power supply power substituting your transformer by another one with a little bit bigger voltage output and much more current.... a bigger transformer in another words, as transformer size matters.
reparing speakers....you can see that would not result fine..when she flipped the speaker, when hitted the table you could listen the noise the coil made touching the magnetic iron core..or worse, the magnet loosen related the frontal chassis.... glued using Epoxi, the coil is attached to the diafragm and the centering spider using that kind of glue...other glues applied are contact glue..used to leather, to produce shoes...the one you use in both faces to be glued, then you wait it dry and then you attach one against the other.

Impressive lady
And she never gets any glue on her fingers
Though I fail to see how she alligns the voice coil properly

Oh, I see now she does place allignment inside the voice coil before mounting, and she will remove it once the dustcap is mounted
She is just faster than my eye 😀
If only she had cut a small bit of those foam pieces, instead of that much fighting

Yes..she had centered using a gap filled material..was removed
But listen the noise when she hitted the speaker against the table...the noise is not normal....it is like metal hitting metal.

VR3 Vbias
I decided to try and build a DX amplifier. I purchased a kit online and began cross referencing between Greg's website and the online instructions for the kit provided by the gentleman who sold me the kit. There is a difference in the way the vbias is carried out. I don't wish to offend him or anyone here, all i want to know is if the online method will give me the desired results; wich are a working amp that will not overheat. I've attached some pics and a web address to the online instructions. Help will be greatly appreciated. ** DX-Amp **

hi bryantramos79,
I am not familiar with PCB that you purchased. You would assume that it has been tested and the instructions supplied are correct, but.....
I have included a picture of my DX Amp that was constructed from the instructions on the DX Amp website.
Note that VR2 and R14 are obsolete and are not mounted on PCB.
Just a brief history of the bias of the DX Amp. Originally the bias was set with only using VR2 and R14 but this requires a very, very large heatsink. So VR2 and R14 was removed and a small Vbe PCB was used instead - see picture.

We are becoming more and more famous dear Greg!
Thank you.... you see...your board is spread world wide...hundreds have built at home...and now, people selling, not only in this site but in others too, will bring us more and more satisfaction.
This happened because our forum, the best wide world forum, and will turn even better the day thread opener had the freedom to block boring folks to post annoying things spreading dirty in the threads.... in the future will be this way...or a lot of folks will abandon forum because it will turn not confortable having people disturbing..beeing annoying.
Money is not entering our pockets..but the satisfaction to start the whole thing belongs to us!
** DX-Amp **
The most lovely one is the picture number one..someone have copied and was sold in the Islands we have surrouding beautifull Australia... La Ode torega is not the responsable..he just have made the beautifull board.
A Brazilian, sligtlhy modified one (had CCS and some transistors in parallel) was tried to be sold...another version appear in the Brazilian free market (E Bay)... one of them i could remove from the market using family influence with our President (Police order..or remove or will be one week inside a jail)...but i have asked because bad quality and not using VBE limiter..also not explaining how big the heatsinks should be in this case.... the price was really a shame..too much low (15USD).. this makes the "clever" ones to run to the bargain...and the result is a big lemmon in their lives.....bad kit that one... would burn easy!
Also you see the third picture, that one made and sold in China.... started in 2008.... it seems thousands were produced... now a days they removed from the line..ahahahaha..using another one... a banished forum folk that made Fet things (Aska....you see.... Aksa wrote scrambled...dirty thing that one)
This is good...in my mind means a big "thank you" we are receiving by our job...there are things that have much more value than money... at least to me things are this way.
regards,
Carlos

Two things i forgot
1- forgot to say thank you to the pioneers of DX amp. 2- To use the vb multiplier, all i do is build the board and attach to points a and b. I do not have to attach jumper from ground to ze?

I see that after some 600 pages of posts bu**er all has changed to this miserable little schematic, which reminds of 1980's el cheapo Rotel amps.
People get real and believe that a lot of R&D has actually gone behind truly noteworthy amps, and start for christ' sake building a respectable product clone..
No personal offense taken.

Oh, just forget all I said, if it makes people happy building this amp, it's fine by me!
Yeah, we sometimes forget there are hundreds of threads and heaps of forums, we only really need to participate in the ones that are of interest to us. Each to there own.
This amplifier was not authorized to sell..so the guy is doing this and pointing
Greg Erskine site.
In my humble point of view, the one ask money for the kit should give the needed follow up to the ones have bougth their kits.... this is part of "his" costs... the follow up and printed instructions.
I am responsable for non paid dyers, the ones have participated the thread and have created their own boards, producing the etching and buying parts by themselves..for these ones i am ready to give some help..also Greg and his thread (pointed by the business man as a support for his products) can be helpfull too.
The man is having profit..he is making a business and not ashamed to do that without authorization, also pointing a DIY forum as support.
I think, the way things are, i will be working hard to that guy earn money..this does not look fair to me.
About Greg.... he decides what to make...i will continue, gladly, giving support and beeing a great helping hand to the ones comes to this forum, to produce their boards, to buy or select parts from junk box, or their own reserve of parts and to build as a real diyer...not a kit buyer.
This is a non paid forum.... this space is not used to produce sales, this is not a business section... the one is producing kits should ask first my authorization, should make an agreement with me, and also pay for advertising in the forum dedicated pages, to business..as paid publicity.
Also Greg deserves some return, as his pages..his site...is not for free to him.... while things are contribution between friends, DIY from a world forum... amateurs building..it is all rigth...but when things turns professional, so the costs must include my design, the layout made by Greg and the costs Greg is having to maintain the pages...to rent the space in his provider.
You are not guilty dear kit buyer..... the one that sold needs to feel ashamed of his behavior and to start conversations with me.
E bay already informed the kit has not authorization..the forum adress, the thread adress already informed.
At least. ... this is free advertising to me...this may help the day i decide to start a business...but i feel things are not beeing correctly made.
regards,
Carlos

Hollow man..considering your post you seems to me you are not behaving with kindness,
respect and good education.
It would be much better to make some effort (huge effort as i could see) to be less rude, more calm and more friendly in our forum...no personnal offense taken , to copy you...after offend someone say not offending... awfull behavior...terrible presentation..remember that you represent your country when posting..not only yourself as a person..we know your place...your culture..by your words, culture and education...we evaluate your country reading countrymen posts.
You are lucky you are in Greece, and talking this way in an open forum where people (moderators and management) are extremelly tollerant.
Here, down in Brasil, you would face troubles very fast.. would be kicked out from foruns during a flip or your eye...we take respect very serious here.
Post 6715 was awfull...you are not starting in a good way (old forum register but not too much activity)....the next post was more decent, more human, and much better (6716).
Dear Sakis..you are in Athens..give him what he is asking for... if too much young , green, non mature..then pull and twist his ears only..if adult, then you wanna know what to do with his big tongue?...have a dog Sakis?
With all respect Mr. Hollow man...i am kidding...Sakis will be kidding too...no offense!
ahahahahah!

Your Honour judge Mr. DestroyerX,
rest assured that I speak only for myself, not my country, not anybody else when I post here. Quite cunning of you trying to trick me into a national pseudo-pride trip, but I won't fall for it, if that says anything to you about background, education etc. As for your threats, is this your morality? In actual fact, nothing is more immoral than threatening people.
Regarding your design, as I said, your schematic looks dangerously like a cheap Rotel 80's amp, which I owned decades ago and its sound is characterised by inflated dynamics, edginess and considerable perceived distortion.
In my experience, a lot of topologies actually DO NOT work in audio, even though they might simulate, measure or seem very valid. This is why diy audio is a catch22.
