DAC AD1862: Almost THT, I2S input, NOS, R-2R

People have spoken about upgrading the heatsink on the JLSounds board.

I am guessing that a small stamped type such as this one, is going to be not much of an upgrade if any?

Can anybody offer any recommendations or advice?

How bad does it overheat? I would have thought Lorien has done the thinking on this.

Don't overthink it, Just add more metal to the existing heatsink using thermal tape.

If your B+ at input is less than 300V the DN2540 are fine for such a tube. The IXTP are refinments, buy it after if you are happy with what you hear. I find they exagerate too with the price of those mosfet. I have burned some and I cried ! Burned two J310 cried again !
@grunf - £12 for two mosfets, come on on dude... I will have to wait until I can build a farnell order to get the original spec devices.

What is the best way to test dac with bench psu just to make sure everything is ok before I plug opamps and dac chip?

Also : The upper Riv seems not in the hole towards the dac chip side, but perhaps this is the photograph, hard to see !

Always check twice the capacitors position to avoid shorts before switching on....

Check the output of your reg before connecting them to the dac board, then as already inputed : check on the power vias relative to Vref the voltage numbers (without the ICs) when connected to the dac board.
