Hi Pjotr. I just finished electrically a PA03 chipamp. Building an enclosure is my next and final step, apart of replacing the OPA134PA opamps with BursonAudio V5's.

Can you give me a hint where to look for heatpipes. This would reduce the size of the enclosure significntelly!
Hi,

I got these heat pipes from Farnell (Newark) as straight 6mm x 150mm pipes: SF-06-150-S - EUROPEAN THERMODYNAMICS - Heat Sink, Heat Pipe, Copper, 150 mm, 6 mm | Farnell element14 But those are widely available from Mouser DigiKey etc.

Those 6mm pipes can handle 18 - 20 watts each at room temperature. So for a LM4780 you will need 4 I guess. Be careful, it is not easy stuff to bend/handle. The wall thickness is about 0,2 mm so they dent easily and need special tooling for bending. Best is to get them ready made from the PC modders scene complete with mounting plates.

Poseidon's Voice Modulus 86

Here is my build of Tom Christiansen's Modulus 86 design:

Poseidons Voice Modulus 86 Slideshow by nycavsr2000 | Photobucket

Hope it inspires you all to build some of his designs. In my opinion, he is the consummate engineer for National Semiconductor's Overture amplifier series, as well as an excellent resource and advisor.

Best,
Anand.

PS: Please note that my build varies from his BOM, and is completely unnecessary. Some of the parts I had on hand, and some I chose for "looks." It's an example of what can be done, and NOT of what should be done. Please do not inundate Tom with "parts quality" mental masturbation questions. You can pm me if you like.

Holy SH%$!! That is absolutely beautiful work.

hey pelayostyle
do you still have a parts list minus the enclosure laying around, I would be great to just have a shopping list and buy everything at once besides the tranny and the enclosure. You have all of this XLRs and Power Female plugs and the amps and control. Plus my enclosure is almost identical to yours, I would really love to built almost a replica of your amp.

Thanks, Lincoln
