thanks to Mooly, I got some desolder braid, wow that is so easy, took me about 2 mins and no damage to the chip or the tracks on the PCB, cheers.

And just out of interest what are the opamps in this player, they are the 8 legged IC's on that add on board, and I think I spotted one underneath too in the piccys.

As a matter of interest, I took the chips of an old board which I think was a Marantz or it could have been a Philips CD 6xx series I think.
It looked identical to the one in the photos.
