I tried listening for differences sighted and per ABX (with Sennheiser HD700 driven by RME Adi-2 Pro FS) on two different days and the outcome is null, no stable difference I could reliably detect. Just guessing more or less so I didn't even bother to complete the ABX runs exect for one short try, with 3/8 result :-(
Need to test with speakers though I have little hope to fare much better...

Yes Jan, you got it right.
Thanks Pavel. Interesting that the intermod levels seem all pretty equal.
Jan
Klaus, thank you for trying the files.
Jan, I think the equal amplitude of the intermodulation products is for the reason that harmonic distortion is flat with frequency (1 or 2 pages earlier is the plot).

My first attempt on headphones. I thought one file was brighter than the other, but Foobar says I can't tell.

I started another trial, intending to pay more attention and practice a little. But for the first time I used the crossfade. I certainly I do like the crossfade because it's seamless. The switch glitch always bothered me, making me hear a difference when there was none.
After listening to these two files with crossfade I concluded that there just ins't enough of a difference to bother about. 😉
Could not notice it in the bass, the drums, the guitar, the voice. So no worries.

What I find interesting is the lack of responses by the I can hear the difference between everything crowd. Seems they can't hear squat. And I don't need to hear the same excuses for the hundreth time. Thank you Pavel for the bit of sanity left in this forum.
Is it possible to see how many times the files were downloaded? Wondering how many people have tried but not replied because they don't want people to know there hearing is not super human like they say.
not everybody wants to subscribe to dropbox to hear the files...
i wish the files and formats thing wasn't a problem... never get to participate.

No need, absolutely. Click outside log window, it disappears, and then download the file.
Files are 44.1/16 standard wav. No more excuses, please.

Thank you, trying my best to keep a bit of sanity in this crazy audiophile environment 😀
ok i think i managed to download one but it seem i don't have the right software or codec to play it....arghhh!
I do not understand it, because they are both conventional stereo 44.1kHz/16bit PCM wav files.
Why not to try foobar
foobar2000
It is a small size and very useful software player.

ok have Foobar installed and running, still cannot download from dropbox, i keep getting an error message "wav. files cannot be previewed from an archived file" what am i doing wrong or not doing?
You probably try to open them rather than to download first, then opening. That gives that error.
