Yes for a diy it's not cheap. But a TL3 might get you very far as well for half the price, the crossover is actually in Italy ! I i will save 800-1000 euros!
I know someone who went full active for substantially less than that. I did the measurements for this person's build.i did send an email, the kit only for the loudspeaker 2 is 3200 euro, +driver+ cabinet, ouch
I personally would not spend that kind of coin on a passive xover.
Outside in a very large yard, with IIRC the Earthworks M23R though any cal mic will do. Troels provides enough info to set the xover points and slopes, inside would be very feasible as you're mainly setting interchannel levels.@Brett
What kind of setup did you use for measuring? Is it possible to tune this kind of loudspeaker, measuring only with a microphone, a stand and a living room 🙂

As you can see I have a large suck out in the upper bass region.
Since it was not possible to correct with the built in DSP of the the Fa251 Hypex (we've tried)...
I have started with speaker placement and acoustics treatment... as I understand, the best solution would be to place another Pair of BMS in other places of the room, canceling room modes. But who have the money for such experiments??
Disregarding room modes, the speakers are doing pretty good from about 100hz!! 😉

Room treatments are probably not going to be effective at those frequencies.. or if they are, not practical. However probably not necessary as this is about multiple sub territory. You shouldn't need matching woofers.

Hypex allows for minus 15.9 dB filters IIRC.

Just came back from the Freiburg concert Hall. They were playing the mighty second Symphony of Gustav Mahler.
So I just set there trying to imagine a speaker to compete with a full orchestra... needless to say I haven't came far with my imagination, but here is a sketch of some idea. I think I need a bigger room!

I like your design but then again I'm single and the pursuit of better sound has never inhibited me from anything audio.
I've built similarly shaped speakers, mine were about 10 cuft and the biggest problem I had was the 60 Hz hump in my room with such a big speaker. I could equalize it out but in the end placement really became my issue. With big speakers in small to medium rooms there seems to be a lot of serious room interaction.
I don't like your mock up. Just because Magico does it a certain way, doesn't mean it's good. Look at the AGs, they're awful and worse value.
Ditch the HF driver, do a large MEH and use 2x18 push/push at the bottom sides at floor level and maybe a HE 15 to do midbass if you need to constrain the width of the enclosure to something not much more than your TL build.

Yes, I've heard them back in 2014 at the munich show. I remember being very impressed, sort of wall of sound impression. But they did had synergy problem, you could hear which driver did what. The Leonardo/viva had darker and on smaller scale presentation.have you heard them? vs Leonardo/Viva?
I'd agree with the idea of a Danley style MEH as a viable solution, either that or something inspired by the older Altec/WE setups.

These were featured on Mabat's ATH thread and features a combination of a MEH and a Geddes inspired waveguide. Completely different styling than what you're looking for but a good example of forward thinking i.m.h.o.

What struck me most yesterday were the intensity of the horns and trumpets, they easily loaded the hall. Them and the percussion gave absolutely thunderstorms pressure levels. So, bass I guess is the (easier?) Problem, the intensity of the horns is probably impossible to reproduce

Subtweeter's speaker are nice, but why should they sound bigger than Noam's current speakers?
Noam, I think you can easily reproduce the the intesity of brass playing in a live venue: have 8 high SPL speakers and a large room, play them in a large room loud. I fear what you desire will not be reproduced in small rooms.

Sheeple I think that you are totally right. I noticed that the brass really energized the concert hall, means it is very much room dependent.

I think there are some more options for large, private run acoustic venues. Like the warehouse, which historically was host for the non-HiFi sound systems since the invention of the night club. In the city I live in (Hamburg, DE) many of such structures exist, used in various roles, of which some can be adopted to dual use. If you find the right combination, rent should be manageable. There could be room for a whole family of TheLoudspeakers. 😀
