Building process - The loudspeaker 1

The flush cut bit will only make it smoother, correct? Won’t it also follow any imperfections I have made in the circle?

Now I am worried about cutting the complicated hole for the Horn, with a jigsaw. Do you have any advice for that, please?
After you worked with circle jig and cut through half of the material depth, you can use a jigsaw and cut the hole 1cm from the smooth circle. Now you can use your flush cut bit and do the rest. I strongly suggest practicing before hand. You should get the feel of the router and the forces involved... always rout clockwise, working against the spinning bit.

Time for fun post 🙂 (Noams tweak freak show)

Ok, after been throughoutly mind blown from the performance of the TL2 loudspeaker, it was time to tackle the next evil 😈 =vibration of all sorts, but in a very DIY kinda away = cheap.

So, we will start from the most ridiculous exciting tweak, to the least and most boring one 😴!

Here we go!
1. Buying the Singxersu-6 and filling it with sand.

2. Got inspired from the Cessaro loudspeaker brand (go Germany 🥳) they are building their Horns like a sandwich, two molds and then pur resin inside.
So I thought, "what the heck", hold my wurst, I'll do the same 😅!!

Here are the results:

3. Making my own turntable Records outer weight!! From, you guessed it, Resin!
But folks, this **** works like magic, and the cartridge have truly and noticeably less work 💪👷

Nice work with that post. What are you afraid when you knocked it out.

The rack looks gorgeous

Does the horn sound any different?
Thanks!
Well, I havent got the chance to hear it just yet but I really doubt if one can hear any difference.... In fact, I told my wife that in case I'm saying that I can hear a difference she should slap me in the face 😉!!

To measure the hole for the 18 inch driver, I can probably make it work using a tape measure. Before that, I could use a construction square to extend the limits of the basket. And then, like you said, make a test hole first.

When I spoke to the woodworkers supply house, they suggested are use a jigsaw to cut the circle. The material I am using is 1-3/4 bamboo. I was worried about routing through that deep of a material.

You use a router bit to cut your circle at the right size going 1cm deep for instance, follow up with a jigsaw all the way through, and use the flush trim bit to make it flush with the first circle you routed. This is one way to do it, it could be complicated if you have to make a recess first, as the surface you use to flush trim won't be completely flat. This is why I suggest you make multiple pass, and flip the board. 1.75 inches is really thick though, it means going .875 inches deep on each side, which will probably require a 1/2" inch router.

Hey Ciobi, seems like I cant quote your post so I hope you’ll see it.

Normally, the TL2 will cost between 4000-6500€ without cabinet materials etc…. But if you’ll look in hifishark there is currently a TL1 crossover for sale for about 800€.

I hope you’ll go for it, it is definitely an end game speaker.

Thank you Noam for the response, the crossover is actually in Italy ! I have to recognize that you made an awesome job giving a visual restyling to the tl2 , for me i don't have a size problem but i dig for aesthetics, and the classic tl1 is very much simple, i love way more what you did with your tl2, actually i almost finished to build 2 subwoofer with 2 BMS 18n862, Soo the loudspeaker 2 would be my top choice! But with your design ahahha or the loudspeaker 1 with a modified look, the crossover got me tempted as i will save 800-1000 euros!

So I assume you are from Italy?!

Thanks a lot for the kind words, in retrospect, a simple cabinet would have been just fine 😉
A massive cabinet out of massive wood could be gorgeous.
By the way I managed to get some of the drivers second hand as well, so you could maybe cut costs there as well.
