🙂 well, this design opens the door for some other features... And yes the Tl2 does look a bit smaller, so from form perspective easier.
I kind of liked the fancy design, to be honest...
(not a big fan of anything Wilson Audio, more of a form follows function man myself)
Of the Wilson Audio loudspeaker grouping the Watt III w/ Puppy II was a pretty good looking design (though only with grills in place). It's too bad that the design sounded better with the Watt's slightly elevated from the Puppy (..plus from 5 kHz up it sounded pretty "chalky" 😱 ).
I think Ken Kessler described them as Darth Vader's rubbish bin's. 😀
oh, and for techno-machismo I liked the WAMM's from the 90's as well - not an attractive loudspeaker, but still pretty 😎

It is big, but quite balanced. Are you still doing the veneer?
I like the grille that makes it seem "at rest" and soft on the eye. The next4 is way more busy for the eye, calling way more attention to itself with it's shape and driver units.
Hard to put to words, but I actually prefer the balanced look of that big (and no doubt potent) speaker. 🙂 I love the slight round shape of the foot and grille. That seals it for me.

Wesayso, I am happy you wrote what you wrote. I think all in all a big step forward in terms of visual. and I bet Sonic as well... Although the Next4 is mighty capable as well. I wish I had both of them side by side when the're finnished. Funny that the Next4 seems so rough... in the real world it turned out be quite handsome. That's just yet another indication that the TL2 will stunning!
About the veneer. I think the amount of work will be overwhelming so I'm considering it only hald hearted. maybe thou instead of the black surfaces 🙄 I think I'll be smarter when I'll get there.
Agree with wesayso, the curve makes the big speaker look nice.
But how much of extra work would go into making the front baffle curved?

Finally starting to cut sheets of beech plywood, 30mm thick. Every cut is a small operation since the cabinet is also narrower at the back at an angle of 5 degrees... So a lot of time goes on accuracy.
In my books, beech plywood is the best you can get (after panzerholz that is 🙂) better then birch which is also a great material. Only problem is cost, here in Germany it is about 45-60€per square metre.

Stil hoping you'll go for veneer on the outside, eventually. You know, that dark stained walnut 🙂. It doesn't have to follow complicated patterns like the early plans, as you have made it a 2 shape object already. Oh, well... you'd know best what you want 😀.

noamgeller,
Looks like you have been busy!
Those are some big holes. 🙂
Had to double and triple check if the holes truly supposed to be that big 🙂 I'm not used to build such humangus things!noamgeller,

Agreed. I have a similar form factor design sketched for after the move with AE, ATC and Beyma parts. Active DSP though.Big speaker done right
Yes, the level 1 is extremely expensive. Yet I was fortunate enough to sell my Next4 build for enough cash to cover this one up.Your crossovers would be worth more than my house !
Amber Z, Alumen Z, you're not fooling around!
I'm guessing the outside veneer will be as marvelous as the inside components used 😀.
