You can look for "MD-803AMR" on ebay. I have 4 of those and they work at 5amps even. circa 60-70mH and DCR around 0.5ohms. Vunce has 6 I think... 🙂
At what amount is considered Hoarding?😀
As a side note, my daughter came home from school the other day and told me she saw a car with the same MoFo sticker I have! So, given the small production of MoFo’s compared to the general population I’d say there is a high density of MoFos on Long Island!!

Since we have cornered the entire US supply of 803AMR’s, I think it can be called “stockpiling” 🙂
Another MoFo on Long Island? Who would have thunk?

I finally got around to working on the chassis
Bvtrinh,
That is going to be one bad a_s MoFo!!
Looks super cool😀
Are there 4 MoFo's?
A kind of push pull configuration?
Are the C-core trafo's the MoFo chokes?

I finally got around to working on the chassis for the MoFos. Hopefully I will have a finished amplifier in a few weeks!
Interesting build I like the use of v slot doubling up for or heatsink/enclosure use.
I've notice a couple of builds now using v slot and C beam sections.
Be interesting to get some feed back on how effective it is and the sort of temperatures you are seeing when your up and running.
Hi all,
I've been following this thread for a while but a build won't make it to the top of my project list any time soon, so the following mostly out of curiosity.
Would it make any sense to scale a MoFo down for user as a buffer preamp? The heat sink would definitely shrink, and I imagine the choke would as well, but I don't actually know.
This starts to look more compelling if you add a transformer for voltage gain to drive a big MoFo power stage.
This circuit is so simple, but all of the recommended preamp have a lot more complexity. It would be nice to see a similarly simple pre, so why not a mini mofo?

ZEUS
Listening to H2 dominant for a while, I have tendency to shift to H3 and vice versa, cannot be faithfully for ever.
Year ago, I built a Zeus with a matched pair THF-51S, 140W input.
It is like two MOFOs with sources connected to a single power supply toroidal transformer. The center tape connected to ground via 1 Ohm resistor for auto bias both gates. Speaker is connected directly to both sources.
Cheers

Maybe you can draw inspiration from Ms.Susan Parker's work.

Hello Meper,
Yes it is essentially four MoFos. The PP MoFo is a misnomer because I thought it sounded funny when in actuality, they are just bridged using dual bipolar power supplies and complimentary mosfet pairs. The Lundahls are the chokes and I have one on top of the board and one on the bottom.

I will test it and let you know what the temperature rise are.
Is an electrical isolator required between the IRFP250 and the heatsink or can I just bolt it straight to the heatsink and use a dab of thermal paste?
I have the same question. Can I bolt TO-3 directly to the heat sink IF the drain is grounded (single end source follower) ?
Use isolator. Someone will inevitably say that it's ok on an anodized heat sink, but be safe rather then sorry. Use goo too. Belt and suspenders.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean?

Hi vdi_nenna, Is this the answer for my question?
