Ordinarily the waveguide crossover frequency decides the size of a midrange driver. Therefore a smaller mid for a conventional dome and larger mid to a waveguided tweeter.Any leanings toward a mid range driver for this?
It doesn't have to be difficult, there's more than one way to use a waveguide.
I think the 3D printed waveguide may just more than the average builder wants to deal with, and that is perfectly understandable.
@mikessi - regarding sealed woofers. I know someone who had the 10" SLS and it measure quite differently than the mfg specs. He was hoping to go ported in a certain sized box and it was pretty much ruled out. HOWEVER, the Qts was so much higher that it looked like it would work really well in a sealed cabinet. I wonder if that is also true of the 12" SLS. One thing that would be convenient would be to find two woofers that would work in the same sized cabinet - but one sealed and one ported. I haven't modeled them, but maybe the 12" SLS (sealed) and the LaVoce mentioned earlier (ported). I don't think "several" designs are actually going to come out of this thread, but if two designs did, especially one sealed and one ported, then that would be quite flexible.

See post #108.
The Peerless is really only suitable for sealed, but another woofer might work ported in the same volume. It's easy to increase volume by increasing the depth. Here's sealed only, Gray line is smaller box.

Here's the H26 for a comparison.I might add, I have the Dayton ND25FW waveguide tweeter for a two way project. I don't think it is up to monkey box standards as distortion goes up near 100dB. Nice for the price though ($13).
Any leanings toward a mid range driver for this?

Approximate $500.00 Budget-
Tweeter - ScanSpeak Discovery D2608/9130 1" Textile Dome HDS Tweeter $105.50
Midwoofer - Scanspeak 18W/8434G-00 Discovery, 7" $99.40
Woofer - GRS 12PT-8 12" Paper Cone Professional $42.48

I would say the HD26 and the D2608 are also solid contenders for tweeter duty. Impressive performance at 100dB for the HD26 and a bargain at $32 at PE (currently out of stock). I like the price of the GRS 12PT-8, anyone who has used it that can report on how it performs?
Vb = 95l?
Vb = 95l -- That is too big, imo. What's the smaller box size?See post #108.

CA$280 at Solen. = US$197. I get a small discount so it's probably just workable in a <CA$1k budget.that SB Acoustics SB34NRX75-6 is good, but on the upper side of our price limits i think. That's why i started look at Faital and Peerless. But it's a great driver that can go low sealed and is usable to about 500Hz (so relative easy to crosso to a smaller mid in a small sealed cabinet). If the price is no issue, it's also what i would choose. But it's about 200€ in europe, that may be too much for a budget build.

Smaller box is 60L. There's a note on the right side. Box Q is .9 at that size.Vb = 95l?

I discovered this in my small directivity study:
Here's the ring radiator XT25BG60 on a 8x10" baffle. Note smooth response above 7KHz.
There is a yellow bulge about 5KHz which I feel is a baffle effect (yet to verify). You should also see asymmetry, since in this cabinet the tweeter was offset 10mm from the centre line.
Here is the DX25BG60- the dome version of this tweeter, in the same cabinet, again with LR2 3KHz filter-
B)
And finally- the XT25BG60 in a waveguide, the WG148R waveguide, filter for acoustic LR2 3KHz:
If you don’t want to use a waveguide, but want some directivity control, the Ring Radiators appear to have it in the top 2 octaves (exhibit A)
I wonder if this is one of the reasons for the OSMC's smooth even treble response- it also uses (Scan-Speak) Ring Radiator R2904/7000

Here's the one! Small sealed box with 45 hz f3 (approx.)

Is there any reason this would sound bad crossed at 300hz.?

Here is the Peerless SLS 830669 SEALED and the LaVoce SSF122.50L VENTED both in the same 2.40cf (68L) box.
They would be fine in 2.0cf for what we are trying to achieve.
Peerless F3/F6/F10 = 46/38/30 Hz
LaVoce F3/F6/F10 = 38/33/29 Hz
Max SPL 110dB vs 117dB - which isn't' all that fair because the LaVoce can handle 4 times the power.
indeed, here in Vituix, with low pass : https://www.diyaudio.com/community/...-box-coffin-group-project.423501/post-7929505.
If one has one it will be usefull to make a proper T&S measurement to know about the Qtc and Fs vs the datasheet.

Solen told me last month that they have a spotty relationship with Peerless/Tymphany & the items showing up at PE isn't available to them at all. I got the SLS10s from them 18 mos ago at blow out prices. I think they were just moving stock out. Now, no longer available.
Only Digikey appears to provide Canadian consumer access to the SLS12, CA$124 each, which is not bad at all. But lead time is 24 weeks.

Importing from the US is silly these days because shipping is so exorbitant, and besides, who knows when the tariff wars will begin.
So for me, SLS12 is not a viable choice.

They will be back in stock in the US in May. Yes, May!!
