B1 with Korg Triode

Sure enough. I have been tempted to use a socket for these tubes, though I must admit there has only been one with an actual problem in the many projects that I have used these in. Man, that filament is so tiny.

Has anybody compared ACP+ with B1K in one very good system ?
I have one B1K and I would like to build the second line pre. I don't need headphones output, just want the best sound quality and thinking about building another B1K or maybe ACP+ ...

It has about 16dB of gain, which is about 6.3X. The maximum output is about 5V, so the input sensitivity is about 0.8V.

Newbie here, not a reply just a question.
Just finished finished and tested the PSU. Measured 8.8 V across the diode (build guide says9.5V), is that an issue?

No issue at all. 9.1V zener with 5% tolerance can be from 8.6V to 9.6V.

If there is clear audible difference from "clean sound" then something must be wrong and in these cases measurements can show it. First thing to check is always PSU. You could check using a DMM how much AC there is on PSU output. It may give an indication if PSU has noise (DMM set to mV AC). Korg Nutube has correct color…..blue?

My problem is that its crazy loud. I can't use it it's so loud.

Doing well, thanks! I’m also building a B1Korg - actually 2: one is stock, the other with several mods. I’m now half-way through reading this massive thread, and both thrilled to learn so much cool stuff and sad that i have no clue what half the posts are about. I haven’t built anything (except Lencos!) since i was 14 and my Dad and I made a Heathkit amp.

This is a friendly place. I just hope i get to ask a few questions before i blow myself up…

Something sounds to be miss wired. Photos of the volume control might be a start. Or a selector switch not wire through the volume control. We'll see.
