B1 Buffer Preamp

Freud too 😀

In my system still prefer this R2 but that has something special in tone...

Thanks Papa, thanks ZM

Done!!!! 😀
It seems to sound very good.
The current is about 6 mA per rail, the offset, without pot is 1 mV on one channel and 0,2 mV on the other.
Just one question. In this configuration I have about 14V on the positive drain and about -17V on the negative source. Is it ok or it is too much?

Sagen Maybe some picks will help it can be done, Tomorrow ill post some picks of the extremes I went to but simple mods, using foam, and 2 stretchy rubber O ring, after everyone else advise failed now you can tap a screwdriver on the lid not a sound but Ill post in the Korg Nutube B1 thread. never give up or go backwards

awc: tanx, I will look at it. peppennino: Tanx. Spe@kerBox: I think also the B1 is very good. Hade that for 2 years before I build the Nutube. As I say, hate is the wrong word. I just cant decide 9.5 v 10.0 v or 12.0 v. Make me crazy ( : B1 you get what you get. I have now played some hours with the B1 again. Ohhhhh, its so real, abit forward without beeing fatige, stereo as it sould be, not that 3D trick sound. Fast tight bass, light in the top. The last weeks the Nutube get boring. That is just me, but I now what I hear and know what I like ( : Frank

I don't know what the Nutube sounds like, but I just love my B1. I built it point-to-point some years ago.

I'm now using the B1 with a H2 V1 that NP so generously handed out last year. It made the B1 sound even better than before. Btw, it's set to 1.1% distortion.

Two of the more simple, but not rather elegant, things I found to reduce ringing on my B1K build ( I’ll post it someday in the correct forum) is the use of the "Magic Rub" white eraser on top of the Nutube (with rubber o-rings) and the use of a small piece of "small size bubble" bubble-wrap under the rubber feet of the unit itself. You can still make it ring if you tap it just right.

I still like the my less troublesome B1 build and am trying different 1&10uF changes to warm the sound up bit. It never rings….;>)

Cheers, Pete

BTW, since this is the B1 forum, here is a picture of my B1 build including the PS using a Salas BiB shunt regulator and a diyAudio store soft start circuit for outgoing power to an amp connection. I use two individual ALPs mono pots. It is a wonderfully simple pre-amp buffer with great sound.

Cheers, Pete
