"... impose..."
I have had the opportunity to compare the B1 to a number of highly regarded preamps and can say it does less to the signal than any of them. It is so "not" there that I can say it is the end of the line in my search for a front end.
The most important function to me is that it gives me a convenient way to shield the downstream items from any on/off/switching transients.
A top quality volume pot is important.

I suspect , the B1 sounds most like it's attenuator, though I have not tried swapped ng out, reports of sonic impact of the attenuator do exist.

I've had good luck with ALPS blue velvet on mine.

Same here. I swapped out the ALPS for a Goldpoint V24 attenuator. No noticeable change in sound quality but theoretically better channel tracking. Not that I had any problems whatsoever with the ALPS.
Volume Pots
I have used the Alps Blue and find it first rate. I have also tried a couple Glasshouse stepped and as I noted before a Goldpoint V24 with their SMD resistors. All have been very good with the Alps and the Goldpoint requiring no cleaning ever.

I used the same parts that First Watt used in the commercially available B1, the trusty PEC pots. When I replaced my Parasound pre it was like removing a cotton blanket from in front of the speakers!
Have you compared TKD to Alps Blue or others and have a sense of its sound character?I'm using a TKD. No complaints.
I did no comparison. Some say it's better. I can't tell you for sure. Others swear by the Lightspeed. now that's interesting.
I preferred the Noble over the Blue Alps
I preferred my LDR over the Noble
I prefer the Muses over the LDR
My system has completely changed since using the Alps, I must try it again to see if I like it more than the Muses

The circuit is simple enough to be put together on a strip board.
StripBoard - Single Sided, Size 1, Uncut | Antique Electronic Supply
Many more sources and sizes of SB everywhere.
Learning to build it a Bonus.

Well, you shouldn't be boasting about your find here, I can tell you.
All those eBay boards are considered intellectual property theft, I'm afraid.
Do not expect any support (from DIY Audio members) if something goes wrong with that PCB (my guess it's Jim's audio).

Didn’ Nelson give the Gerber ?
Yes, for your personal use: you print it, you etch it, you use it. Simples.
Not: you print it, make thousands of PCBs and sell them.
See la difference?
I am not an idiot and the world is as it is now.
Don’t you have a Chinese copy of something in your house ?
For your pleasure I could edit but it’s impossible.
Actual word seems as : Do it but don’t say you did it.....;-)

Hang on, hang on...
I'm not accusing you of anything.
No, I don't have Chinese copies of anything in my house, as a matter of fact all the Chinese stuff I have is original.
No, I did not suggest to "do it" and hide the fact, this is your interpretation.
Mon ami, I'm not your enemy, remember this.
It was all a friendly advice, nothing else.
You are free (like the rest of us) to make your own decisions.
Have fun.
