do follow the procedure in the website AP compatible USB adapter
I have tested an earlier version of Apwin , 2.14 without obvious issues , but apart from using its conversion from older AP Dos tests I see no reason to use this.

Hi guys,
I just acquired a System One and am using it with Udo's adapter. It's working just fine on the latest Windows 10 with APWin 2.24.
I used to use a System One many years ago running S1.exe. I remember that the software came with a load of sample .tst files. These were useful as a starting point to generate more specific tests.
A couple of requests:
Does anyone know if there is a library of test files somewhere specifically for APWin? There doesn't seem to be anything on AP's website so are there any members here that could share some of their test files with me?
Also, is there a specific user manual for APWin? I know there is a help file but a manual would be more useful. The S1 software was, I think, more intuitive.

You can download Dukes CD with AP S1 and S2 Performance Test Scripts from https://s1usb.com/files/DUKE_S1_S2_FILES.zip

Hi Guys,
I have a AP SYS-222G which has the GPIB option and a PC with GPIB PCIe card in it. I was able to open the APwin in demo mode.
Does this software work through GPIB without the USB cable?

I'm pretty sure it won't work. The GPIB interface is (according to AP docs) used for automated "repeatable" tests only, such as required by production line equipment.
Using the USB cable with Udo's adapter makes everything work as it should. For an older test set this effectively extends its life dramatically. It's well worth the expense in my view. APWIN needs to "negotiate" with the AP in a fully duplex mode - and it needs to be pretty fast. I'm assuming that the GPIB buss wouldn't be fast enough even it it were to work.

Doug, (Audio1Man) can probably confirm this.I'm pretty sure it won't work. The GPIB interface is (according to AP docs) used for automated "repeatable" tests only, such as required by production line equipment.

Hi Handel
GPIB works well in a production. It gives fast # for Pass/Fail. Last time I used GPIB mode was 10 + years ago. I think that you need to run in APIB mode ApWin 2.24 as you may want the visual picture/graph mode.
Use the tools you need to complete the job and meet the $/time required.

Yes, I definitely want to use the APwin software and get graphs out of it. Seems that I have no other choice than buying the cable.

The USB cable and the APwin software works great, thank you for that! Also the GPIB works but only for sending the SCPI commands, not with APwin which is understandable.
But the instrument has some issues. First thing that I noticed is that the signal generator is working only partially, Need to start reading the service manual and search if somebody else have had similar issues. Links or contacts are welcome. Thanks!

Hello Duke,
I have sent you mail regarding my AP Sys One DSP. Could you please check it?

Hello folks,
Is Duke's APIB/USB adapter that can be found on ePay and the one from s1usb_dot_com the same?
If they are different, anyone can recommend the better one to use with SYS-2222/2322, on Windows 10/11?
Many thanks,
Duong

Hi Duong
Yes my APIB USB ADAPTER will work for the S1, 22xx, 23xx, 25xx, 26xx & ATS2 ON XP, VISTA, W7, W8 & W10. I have not tested it for W11

Since this is a DIY site, I am wondering if there is a way that I can make my own APUSB cable? I can't justify buying one, as I'd be using it only occasionally at home with an AP that I do not own and which I might have to return at any time (hopefully not soon). I have the ability to build it, if there is documentation (gerber, schematic?).
Ieronim , please read this thread from the very beginning - it is a monumental amount of work from Udo , creating a perfect plug and play solution for all AP´s from S1 upwards- all perfectly good hardware units no longer supported by AP, and now potentially providing thousands of legacy AP users with a 100% workable future path using their fine hardware. For this APUSB, the selling price is peanuts compared to the problems it has solved interfacing with the AP , and the huge effort of creating it. In my opinion, you should be very happy , as I am, that it now exists, and it IS affordable - if you really do need it. All Kudos to Udo ;-) Greetings to Duke and all early supporters and users.Since this is a DIY site, I am wondering if there is a way that I can make my own APUSB cable? Reverse engineering protocols is a lot of work especially if you want it to actually work.
If you think a few months of your time are worth less than the asking price, then of course you're welcome to DIY 🤣

There are some non-working adapters as production is not perfect (I test every adapter with the S1/S2 self test scripts to detect failures,
but do not have the time to repair them).
I can send you two programmed adapters for repair. Most of the time there are only small errors like bad solder joints.
You need a stereo microscope or magnifying glasses and a multimeter or scope to check the supply voltages (5V/3.3V), clock (24 MHz) and I/O voltages and soldering.
Please send an email to office@s1usb.com (with a copy of this conversation) if you want to build your own adapter.
If you do not have the time and knowledge, i can give you (and diyaudio.com members) a 20% discount for non-commercially usage.
Thanks Duke - if you need adapters please contact my brother Georg at office@s1usb.com - he does most of the work now and has organized the production very well. All Kudos to Udo ;-) Greetings to Duke and all early supporters and users.

Udo
