Some of those links haven't been working lately here in tariff land. However, the same or a similar item may be found using a different link. But first you have to know what is to be searched for.

my dac runs at 6x OS and the furbished extra clocking/bluetooth usb module has impeccable clock signal with almost no 'jitter'.

After getting the taste of ES9039Q2M by coincidence I got an SMSL D6s coming my way for a try out. Curious. As we all know SMSL makes fine DACs with competitive pricing.
ESS DAC chip, (internal) SMPS, quite cheap. What can go wrong? 😀

Do you have plans to upgrade the device?I got an SMSL D6s coming my way for a try out.
Well, I usually listen first and let it "burn in" a few days. Not everything needs an upgrade. Like M200 (AK4497), I never changed anything except adding a linear PSU.
Interesting to look at board in good resolution. It seems to me that this brand uses the same scheme in all devices. Judging by the photo from the internet (in poor quality though) the same system as in the SU-1, without independent audio oscillators, the same SPDIF transceiver and a IC clock-generator MCLK.
My ears do not look. Before you know it all devices seem to need an operation by the only doctor that can do so.
If I would only look I would not pick an external device with internal SMPS, muting ICs and ESS DAC chip 🙂 Let's just give it a try. Trying out without prejudice and listening is what makes this hobby nice.

Yes, 1:1 SU-1. All the digital part of device till I2S output to ESS is the same. Added bluetooth, internal smps and another DAC and output stage. Sounds good ?this one?
Don't know if SMSL has improved their audio clock processing circuit but in SMSL DO300EX it did not fare well:please tell me what is all wrong with it

Ok thanks, just like what’s on the WIMM Ultra A98 module, to keep costs down … how cleverIn SU-1 that generator IC does any MCLK, it changes between 45/49MHz. Perhaps here too
The DAC Meisters sure know to judge books by looking at other books covers 🙂
WiiM, acko. it is WiiM.

apologies, hope all works out well 🙏

Exactly in this case, this book contains a big chapter word in word, which many people read in the previous book 🙂at other books covers
And I suppose that your SPDIF content could sound much better, if here soldered usual cheap resonator 24.576Mhz.

I didn't realize you asked a rhetorical question so you actually don't want to know what is possibly wrong with your new purchase. The DAC Meisters sure know to judge books by looking at other books covers
The high noise skirts around the fundamental are typical for clock synthesizers or PLLs. There is a hint of that to be seen on ASR j-test measurements when compared to another DAC:

The only stuff approved by the DAC Meisters seem to be their own designs. Those that sell like hot cakes and can be built by members here 🙂
So what is wrong with trying out a random inexpensive Chinese DAC (as in the thread title)? Possibly there is not much wrong and even if it isn’t good…. who cares? Just nod in agreement with your instruments that you don’t need to listen to it 😉
