Market fluctuations, no doubt...It was not cheaper. In fact it was more than double the price.

Actually, the D6S is more expensive (!) at AU$316:

This is the first time I've read about the environmental aspect here on Diyaudio, and I think it's definitely an important aspect to consider! Thanks for your always very factual contributions!
As we clearly already have a larger than average/necessary carbon footprint and seemingly change hardware more often than underwear it may be good to look in the mirror now and then. Problem is that stuff today is not meant to be repaired/updated, it is meant to be replaced so production does not get interrupted. A paradox.
Especially hardly recyclable lithium poly batteries are better avoided. Lead-acid batteries always get the blame but are practically fully reusable. I do not know why but reality and emotion what is green and what not are often reversed.
I can recommend visiting industry, power creation and production of raw material whenever and wherever possible. You will see what is involved to produce for instance aluminium or zinc. Then how products are made, how the energy is generated to do so and finally how they are recycled.

There is always T+A, AVM or Burmester.Globalization, aint it beautiful? 😉
Not Chinese or cheap at all! I want affordable Chinese audio as the local brands also have their stuff made in China.
Otherwise I have to DIY again, this while I already converted to BYC 😉 I ❤️ SMSL

Fosi Audio ZD3 with 3× OPA1656
20 euros less than the DM100 Pro. But also only one ESS dac chip VS two with thee SMSL.
I wonder why they use the LME49720 for gain... thin sounding like the opa1611/12. Isit not possible to use dif op amp like the 1633, at least for the Single ended summing op amp ?
What is the active device use in the red circle on the ZD3, please ?
Seems true crystals near the XMOS output chip ?
I don't like their via fencing use between the high speed digital lines... so-so layout. Also what the heck with that MELF resistors ! Looks like pictured for audio magasines.... Nothing to complain for the price though and certainly easily diyable with the external smps dart.
