I bought a new pair of Teva boots 🙂
Teva makes boots? I always associated them with really good sandals.

Hi Dave, yes I'd not heard of Teva boots before. I tried on lots at the shop and for my feet the Teva's were the most comfortable. I did a google search when I got home and found that the company was famous for it's really comfortable sandles and had started to make boots with the same aim of comfort.
I'll know in a month or so if they live up to the comfort image 🙂
Tony.

Didn't buy anything today but got 4 SEAS H0737 and a bunch of caps'n'coils delivered.
Four little woofers arrived last week.
Tomorrow I'll buy some MDF and order some 4mm bolts, tiny t-nuts and threaded inserts.

I bought one of Piersma's jfet circlophone boards...
I love DIY. And then there's the part I hate. I hate agonizing over ever little detail at times.

Nice Dave, and I suspect an absolute bargain!! I can report that the Teva boots are indeed comfortable after a few weeks of wear too. 🙂

Someone tossed out a cheap all-in-one stereo the other day so I raided it for parts...surprised to find a large toroid inside with main secondary yielding 30 vct. Hmmm...what would use 30 vct? Found it on ebay..12 bucks. I mean...12 bucks?

Paisley Reference Two 8" 2 way. Got them from a large multi townhouse garage sale. Decent shape for something 30 years old. All original and the foam surrounds must be treated as they are just fine. They are a bit bass rich for me but nothing a pair of socks can't fix. The depth of the bass is surprising as well. It must go well below 50Hz.
I love when people just want them gone.
5 bucks for the pair.
hehe.

Now that,s what I call a great buy. I,v never heard of *treating* foam surrounds, know what they are treated with? I thought you just accepted the fact that they will disintegrate with time, especially here in the corrosive south Florida air.
I think the ones you buy now are pre-treated but here is a retrofit product.
Speaker Foam Guard Cone Edge Sealer, Cloth Surrounds, Foam Surrunds, MI-1291FG
If you are familiar with Ian Paisley, you'll know why I got a speaker woodie when I saw these. 🙂

Bought an infinity PS-12 sans amplifier board. 10 bucks.
Driver is good. But's not easy to drive, need to make a 700wRMS 4R amp to power it.
And I bought a goofy tshirt that I designed... that's over in the commercial sector.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Tks for the link, I am familiar with Mirage. Klipsch sure likes to aquire hi end companies. My fav speakers are from a small, now defunct company called Fulton Musical Industries. The late Bob Fulton was the wizard. i own a pair and they are amazing, if I ever see another pair of any FMI model for sale I will buy them.
I saw a 12inch Velodyne sub in a thrift shop today for $25, but I already have several subs, so...left for the next enthusiast.

some of the bookshelf sized Fultons were built by RTR that also built at least the esl tweeters for the J Mods
I know that some of the drivers are RTR, I didn,t know RTR built some of the few models there were. The magic was Mr. Fulton tho, and his tweaking of the crossovers and choice of drivers and placement. It was an odd synergy. Until they were damaged in a flood I had a pr of Fulton midget monitors, small, simple design but they had a sound that was amazing. It was like losing a prized possession...I still have the drivers and crossovers, but I don't know if I can recreate the cabinet.
What we did not buy this afternoon.
Looking around one of the many local charity shops this afternoon and I spotted an interconnect on the shelf with a £5 price tag... which I thought was a bit steep considering there was a Poundland next door.
The plugs looked excellent quality though, and taking my glasses off to peer at the print on the cable ('cos it was funny clear plastic stuff with silver braid underneath) and I spotted that it was by QED.
I'm just looking on Google now 😱 and I think its the QED 'Signature 40' or some near offer. It is that sort of cable, lol, and its £169.95 from QED.
But cables don't make any difference though, do they 😀 do they ???? I tell everyone they don't, but maybe they do.
It might still be there tomorrow, waiting to be saved from someone wanting to connect the Matsui CD player to the old Amstrad HiFi.
Maybe I should go and rescue it. Big decisions...

'QED' is one of the very few cable companies that displays some good engineering common sense.
