And what did we buy today?

Didn't buy much but went to the skip and found a nice Yamaha CR-240 and a Yamaha K-350 tape deck. And a couple of turntables (Technics and Sanyo), a small Sanyo DCA 205.
Not bad.
Oh yes - a B&O flat receiver thingy. I love Sundays at the skip. People are cleaning the attic and throw away a lot of good stuff.

Yesterday I had this nice Denon DCD-1550AR in mint condition with me home 🙂
Cost me a little over $100.- 😀

I'm a big fan of some of the built like Sherman tank equivalent Denon for its visual aesthetics and sonic offerings. The 2900 multi discs are great deals for making excellent transports. I had a silver SE model for a little more than what you paid for your player ($150).

Im temporarily too broke for frills so Ill show off this bargain of a DAC I got last. It bumped something that was almost twice its average used cost so it deserves a little recognition in my opinion.

very interesting demonstration of the construction of stranded bamboo plywood, and the colour combination with woven fibre cones is rather striking

I'd probably have put the port on the back, and recessed the volume control, though

Yes, yes, however to some the bamboo appears butt ugly tho, perhaps they have never seen this fine wood in they're life and also can't tell the difference between a designer piece and a trash can. I am quite happy with my purchase. The kevlar reinforced mid-woofers produce a rather massive bass considering the size. Altho this unit has a Class D amp inside the highs sound pleasant and are brilliant and crystal clear. This thing is loud, very loud if I crank it up. Rated 100W per channel. The craftsmanship is superb, I can not tell there is a seam anywhere, the wood construction is very stiff, I can hardly feel any vibration when this puppy is cranked up and blasting bass. The handle has the company logo laser'd into it and on the backside it is engraved into the wood for some detailed touches.
Yes, I had ask the manufacturer to make this limited edition a custom piece and have the knobs recessed with a cool CNC aluminum job but unfortunately it was a nocando. Also I wanted some grill protection over the speakers that they are somewhat protected, again, nocando.
Well, I am sure I find something suitable for it. Overall on a 1-10 scale I'd give it a 9.5 😀

They were sold here rebranded by Jaycar. Some years back I picked up the separates 5" version for my car. A couple of minor changes to the supplied crossover and they weren't half bad. I ended up shrouding the tweeters into the lower corners of the windscreen because I don't like standalone tweeter pods.
