And what did we buy today?

I bought some Rcore transformers from Selectronic. They arrived yesterday.

I was not confident of getting them. The site is only in French and I was guessing that I was putting my ordering information into the correct fields. But all OK.

EXCEPT one transformer came without ANY labeling. No identificiation of the transformer type/size, wiring, colour codes, NOTHING !!!!
The invoice confirmed it as a 120VA, 2x117Vac primary and a 4x18Vac secondary.
The two labeled transformers have very unconventional wiring colour codes.
See my Thread on this potential disaster.

Free off the footpath just down my street (local verge junk annual collection).
Perfect condition, 185W/8 + 185W/8, quite handy to have around.

Q3&4 are exposed to high Vce. It shows 75Vdc supplies and the bc556 is rated for 60Vce0

I would add an output coil L||R to feed the output terminals and add another RF attenuating Zobel across the speaker terminals. Same values as the on board Output Zobel.

I like the SymaSym circuit, using lateral mosFETs.
Don't use 4ohms, or 6ohms speaker load. Stay with 8ohms speakers. You should get around 160W to 180W into 8r0. Measure how low the supply rails droop when outputting maximum power.

My Sugden p128 used a very similar output stage (not a SymaSym front end) drooped massively from ~±80Vdc to <±60Vdc trying to drive a resistive 4r0 test load.

how did that turn out?

Not quite as I had hoped actually, but I rescued it non the less. Its not a 'Signature' cable although it is QED. How does it sound... would you believe I haven't had chance to plumb it in yet !

(Nice find on the laptop by the way... you should maybe convert the W7 pro license to W10 while its still free to do so)

i would.

i still have a 'to do list', from 1982.

mostly unfulfilled ...

it tried to update itself, to w8,

stopped that in time.

now has linux mint, and w7pro still ...

I bought a pack of 25 tapped 12mm nylon spacers and a pack of 200 M3 screws, to use for mounting my synergy active crossover boards in their enclosure.

Rather expensive, at around $16!! But I guess I'll have plenty left over for future projects 😉

#24 + 25 Minimus 7's....Yes I do have a few!!

#24 + 25 silver Minimus 7's...$5.99/pr...at SA...1 tweeter is cracked inside...1 screw holding magnet on! Going to see if I can epoxy front plastic face plate screw holes back in place... all 3 holes broken!...had to sever vc wires by posts...to get out of box..and to separate the faceplate...glue stuck by fabric dome on one side...try and resolder vc wires...and hopefully no distortion out of tweeter when re/re'd ...or #25 Minimus 7 will be for parts!

I bought a few days ago 30-year-old PA amplifier - produced in the Soviet Russia (Sigma 200) . 2x100W @ 4 ohm and 200 W in bridge mode @ 8 ohm. The sound quality is not the best - However, chassis/enclosure is very solidly built - big and heavy for just 100w amp. 10 000 uf capacitors are abnormally large -150mm in length. Heat-sinks are marked for 8 to-3 transistors for each side, but holes drilled only for 4 transistors on each side.
It looks like that will be a good start for a new DIY amp.😱

It looks to be good for Leach amp..bet I already have two leach amps...
