I am running my old NAD cd player into theACP+ and then into ACA and it sounds great. Quite pleased with these units! Easily the best amplification I have ever had. I have aca mini waiting to be built, looking forward to pushing it with the acp+.
I got a pair of Hifiman Sundaras today and I like the way they pair with the ACP+. Not particularly bass heavy phones but very good where the ears tend to be. Detailed nicely in the highs and only sibilant where the recording is. My guess is that there are many phones that would work nicely with the ACP+ but it is a choice for the listener to make. Interestingly, my old Grados introduced a hum that bothered me as if I had done something wrong during the build but it is not there with the Sundaras.
^ Get a pair of the original HE-6 and run them off the speaker taps of an ACA. EQ'ed just so.... that can rattle your cage ... if that's what you're into.

That is a fantastic combination with the right speakers. That is what I run in my workshop - not the Zen amp but whats below and next to it. 😉

These turned out to be the right speakers for me. I highly recommend them. 91 spl iirc. https://www.audiocircle.com/index.php?topic=108003.0. I left off the woofers and am using a Yamaha NS-SW050 8" subwoofer with mine.
Here is one I finished today. A gift for a person dear to me who will be overseas. for a year and away from family and country. Worked like a charm on start up. Thank you Papa and crew!
Indeed, these are quite special in the sound they deliver. And kudos to the DIY Audio Store for doing a marvelous job of assembling and packaging all the kits. Four builds and no missing parts or problems.
I am installing C2 and C3. The kit brought two different capacitors for these. some shorter 1000uf Nichicons and some taller 1000uf ones. Do I install the smaller Nichicons in the C2?
C3 is the "audio" grade capacitor. Please post pictures of the two capacitors so that they can be identified.
The nichicons are on the left, the other ones on the right.

They were a bit tedious to stuff, but nothing crazy. I am almost done, lets hope I didn't screw something up!
